Visited in March and really enjoyed our meal. Everything was fresh and had great flavours. Portion sizes were perfect and even had to take some home. Onion bhaji and chicken pakora side plates were both lush… crispy and not greasy like you would find in other places. View all feedback.
What J M dislikes about Masala Craft:
Generally a pleasant experience. A few things not quite to our liking; firstly, one of us ordered a pineapple juice for £2.60 and was the smallest serving of juice I’d ever seen, not to mention that none of the drinks had any ice in them. Secondly, the portions for the main courses were definitely on the smaller side. I got a fish Karahi curry with a cheesy naan bread and was pretty tasty, but my partner got a paneer... During our business trip, we dined with a large group and enjoyed a decent meal. Unfortunately, the service was lacking.
First time here and we absolutely loved it will be back. Very cosy so not good for big groups. Lamb chops tempura prawns and chicken thighs starters. Lamb belly pork vindaloo and seafood curry mains all fantastic. No left overs
My partner found this before our trip to York and thought it looked good. The reviews were mainly positive so we arrived at 1720 on a Tuesday evening. We were the second couple in and the staff were soon taking the order. They were the only serving staff and one further in kitchen, but they soon had the food coming. The food as far as we were concerned was excellent, very flavoursome, well spiced and piping hot. The belly pork vindaloo melted in the mouth and the sundries were just as good. I was happy with the portion size as they didn't overface us, which allowed us to try the pickle tray and poppadoms and the bahjis were also a credit to the restaurant as many are pre made and a bit stodgy, not these which I guess we're made and cooked fresh. The bill was also reasonable for the food and alcohol. I'd be happy to go again as the food was so nice.
We had been looking forward to eating here. What a shame we had the worst chicken tikka massala ever and not so good wine also. We wont return
Great little restaurant shame about the staff since they moved where did the tall manager go that used too be at the king street restaurant he was really nice and very welcoming and the old staff where amazing they need too come back forgot what his name was but the food is still amazing and also the portions where great cocktails are not the same and think the staff need guidance again from a manager the owner is so good and can’t thank him enough for our meal cooked too perfection will come again but I think the little place needs the main manager back too help and run food quick
