The White Horse is a charming pub located in a beautiful location, offering excellent curry dishes and good fries. The atmosphere on a Saturday lunchtime was a bit lacking due to low foot traffic, but the staff were friendly and accommodating. The menu may have been a bit limited for some reviewers, but the quality of the food and the welcoming atmosphere received high praise. Some reviews noted high prices and limited vegetarian options, but overall, the dining experience was positive for most visitors. With friendly staff, delicious food, and a cozy ambiance, The White Horse seems to be a hidden gem worth visiting.

We were camping up in the area (September 2011) and this restaurant came highly recommended by the campground staff.

This is one of our favourite pubs in a beautiful location. It’s a while since we have been here because the last couple of meals we have eaten were average and the menu hadn’t really changed. We had lunch today and I was a bit disappointed with the choices on the menu. I’m not a vegetarian but often choose the meat free option or fish when I eat out. The starter wasn’t an issue and there were several choices that appealed to me. I chose the parsnip soup, which was delicious, but found it a bit unusual that there wasn’t any butter for bread. The main course options were challenging for me. I can’t eat greasy food because of a health condition, so fish and chips was off the menu for me and the only other meat free option was veg chilli. That’s always a difficult one because you never know what level of spice it will have. I thought I would go for the sausage and mash (I only eat one sausage and take the others home) because the specials were only sandwiches. To be fair, the menu said sausage, mash and gravy, but I was still surprised when the bowl came out and there was absolutely no vegetable on the plate at all! The gravy was lukewarm and tasted like it was a packet mix not a lovely homemade sauce. The welcome wasn’t as warm as we are used to here. Such a shame and hoping we caught them on an off day.

Lovely country pub, good food, excellent staff and well priced . Very impressed with the high quality of the food not your average pub menu.

I have been before (well over a year ago) and enjoyed both dinner, drinks outside and two fabulous Sunday lunches) but tonight the menu was a very limited fayre of traditional pub food. Settled with two very average burgers and frozen fries. Embarrassed as i had recommended the venue.
