What Travis Mason dislikes about Red Door Bistro:
Service was great to start but fell short. The food was all around excellent. Had Sean as the server whom many rave about. Excellent personality, knows what to say but he got really busy with other tables, other tables with more people than our two. We got our mains, the Lingcod and the Bouillabaisse, from someone and Sean never made it back to tell us about what we were eating or even how the first bites were. I do... View all feedback.
The moment we walked through the door all the way until we left, we were treated amazingly by the staff. The food was out of this world, I highly recommend the west coast bouillabaise and short ribs. My dad and I ordered everything to share and the staff was kinda enough to plate the food onto two plates for each of us to enjoy. Just amazing!
Exceeded my expectations! The west coast bouillabaisse was so generous, I couldn’t finish my dish.Small, cozy place.Being older, I wish there was a tad more light to see the menus. But I am old!
Unfortunately a lacklustre meal for our 1st wedding anniversary. I booked the restaurant over 3 months in advance and provided them notice that we were celebrating a special occasion. No staff member acknowledged it during our dining experience and the table we were provided had an issue where we could feel the server walking by every-time through the uneven floorboards (table in the back corner near the kitchen). The appetizers were okay but nothing to rave about. The main dish I ordered unfortunately was unavailable as they informed me that ran out of it. Instead I ordered an alternate choice of beef tenderloin which was cooked to order (medium rare) but just lacked any flavour and was chewy. My wife's Arctic Char was okay she told me. The server(s) never asked us once during the main course how the food was. We skipped desert because we weren't enjoying our dining experience. After we paid our bill we were then asked how the meal was which made it a redundant question at that point. Just a note that I left the restaurant private feedback 3 or 4 days ago through TouchBistro (which I believe they use for their reservation system) but I never heard back from them. Not really surprising for me given their lack of attention to detail. I would not recommend this restaurant.
This is one of the best restaurants my husband and I have ever dined at. The service is top notch. The setting is intimate. The food is unbelievable! Make a reservation in advance though as it can be difficult to get seating. We will definitely be returning!
What an awesome restaurant! We expected good food and it delivered but what put it over the top was the service. They took extra effort to make us feel special. It's becoming really rare to see this level of enthusiasm for the food and drink and we left the meal with such good vibes!
