What User dislikes about La Perla:
If I could give this restaurant zero stars, I absolutely would. We requested a private room and paid an additional fee for it, but when we arrived, there were other diners in the room. They refused to refund us. It took 40 minutes just to receive the menu and place our order. After that, our salads took an hour to arrive. We were then told that our main courses would be ready soon, about 20 minutes after the salads,... View all feedback.

There is no point really discussing the food when the service was so badBut the food was meh at the high points and bad at the low points.

The food was solid. Service was a bit rough around the edges. Ambiance didn't really match the price point. I suspect that, for the price, you can do better.

Our escargot was terrible. We have had it in other restaurants and love it but we tried it here and it was not as discribed on menu. soaked in oil not herb butter and puff pastry was no puff, just a soggy pinch of dough soaked in oil. looks horrible and tasted terrible. two guest got ravioli and they were thick, chewy and gummy. One guest got fish that was a poor cut and overcooked. Service was lacking. not enough menus for a table of They never came to check on us after food was dropped at table. one item never arrived, side of vegatables and they just dropped off a side a spagetti instead with no warning or apoligies. Owner was rude when we complained, he said nothing wrong with his food. If he cant accept critizism he should get out of the business. this is a tired old restarent with a old menu and old owner who should either get a new chef and menu, train his staff again or just retire.

We had the most wonderful dinner at La Perla Thursday evening. In the past, the reseraunt would have been full at on a Thursday evening. Sadly this was not the case. The food and the wine were terrific! The owner helped us pick a bottle of wine when the bottle we had asked for was unavailable. It was better than the one we would have gotten. Dining at La Perla reminds me what really good Italian food should be. We both had the special which had veal, lobster and shrimp over Fettucini. It was unusual and outstanding! Deesert was also amazing! I am sorry we only visit Washington once a year but will be back at La Perla when we do so!

If I could give this restaurant zero stars, I absolutely would. We requested a private room and paid an additional fee for it, but when we arrived, there were other diners in the room. They refused to refund us. It took 40 minutes just to receive the menu and place our order. After that, our salads took an hour to arrive. We were then told that our main courses would be ready soon, about 20 minutes after the salads, but we ended up waiting a staggering two hours and 35 minutes before they finally served us. To make matters worse, they completely ignored our dietary restrictions.

This restaurant feels like a scam. They served me a more expensive wine than what I ordered without informing or consulting me, then charged me the higher price and wouldn’t adjust it. The server insisted that I should have been able to taste the difference and mentioned it right away, as if everyone is a wine expert. The pasta was decent but not remarkable, and it definitely wasn't worth enduring the poor service (they also never refilled my water).

Terrible service. Took 20 mins just to get water and a menu. Took 30 mins to even order. They forgot the only drink we ordered. Our apps they forgot and came after the meal. The sausage was stringy w too much pepper.

Food was delicious. I started with these two jumbo shrimp encrusted with coconut, on a bed of oranges in a really tasty orange sauce. It's one of the chef's creations and was unique and delightful. The penne alla vodka and my risotto were absolutely decadent. One richer and tastier than the next. We had a really tasty dry red wine. The angel hair pesto was creamier than I'm used to and threw me off a bit. It was rich while I was expecting a light, refreshing pesto with

Amazing food. The freshness of this food is something I have rarely seen in restaurants. Satisfying yet not heavy. Very happy to have stopped by. They totally accommodated my vegetarian preferences. The owner stopped by multiple times to make sure everything was to satisfaction.

The restaurant and bathrooms are gorgeous and clean. The menu is extensive and diverse. Food portions are generous and served hot. The waiters appear to be mature and longtime employees of the restaurant. Our waiter was younger and seemed inexperienced but we were patient and got through the meal.

I had a great time at this restaurant. The food and atmosphere were both wonderful. The location was very convenient. The owner was charming and friendly. I especially loved the Papardelle Presidente dish – it was outstanding!

This Italian restaurant is one of the best in the country! Chef Testa is absolutely fantastic.

Meh. Food was okay, not a great value. Wine list lacked by local standards (we also ate at Cafe Milano and Blue Duck Tavern both had significantly deeper wine lists). Not hurrying to go back given all the other options in Foggy Bottom, West End and Georgetown.

I found this restaurant to be excessively overpriced with shockingly small portions. The service was incredibly slow, and our waiter seemed to vanish at times. We had to ask the owner for several items. To make matters worse, the couple next to us sent their fish back, claiming it wasn’t fresh. Overall, it was a complete disaster of a dining experience. I wouldn't recommend eating here; it was a total waste of money and coupled with terrible service!

The food is far from gourmet, and the service leaves much to be desired. The restaurant was completely empty during our visit. The diners next to us sent their food back entirely.
