Located in Morris County, in the heart of Montville Township, Rails Steakhouse is considered one of the top steak houses in New Jersey. The restaurant is renowned for its USDA Prime and CAB corn-fed beef, which is dry-aged for 28-30 days on the premises in a dedicated steak room. Moreover, Rails boasts an award-winning wine list recognized by Wine Spectator. The restaurant's stunning interior design and vibrant atmosphere make it the perfect place to relax. Behind a secret entrance, you'll find a cozy lounge with low ceilings. Further exploration will lead you to an iron gate that opens into the Wine Cave, an underground space where private parties can enjoy unique wines, spirits, and Chef-inspired small plates. The restaurant offers good service and a knowledgeable server, but there were issues with the food, such as improperly prepared oysters and bland steaks. Dessert and service were highlighted as the best parts of the dining experience. Another reviewer was disappointed with the slow service and lack of attention from the server, despite delicious nachos. However, the outdoor seating area was enjoyed. A family celebration was marred by being seated in a high-traffic area without privacy. One reviewer found Rails to be just okay with a good ambiance and appetizers. On the other hand, a first-time diner raved about the delicious food and attentive service, particularly praising the server named Tiz. Another first-time visitor had a great experience in the romantic setting of the speakeasy dining area, enjoying excellent food and attentive service. Repeat customers found the restaurant outstanding with excellent food, friendly staff, and quick service. In summary, the restaurant received mixed reviews with both praise and criticism for different aspects of the dining experience.

First and most importantly, the steak doneness was on point. Second, the sauces and seasonings were amazing. On top of that, the service was polite, drinks were refilled quickly and the wine and cocktails were delicious. If you're looking for an upscale restaurant to celebrate an occasion, this is a great choice.

I've been visiting Rails Steakhouse for years and recently stopped in for a friend's birthday dinner on a Saturday evening at 8:30pm. The restaurant was packed and the vibe was great. There are three levels to this romantic steakhouse nestled in Towaco just next door to the train station. Keep in mind, on the weekends, they usually have complimentary valet service, which is nice. Upon entry, you're greeted by their friendly hostess and the main level of the restaurant, with a bar on the side. The upstairs level is another dining area with bar and that's where we were seated. The lower level of this restaurant and their speakeasy, Thirty3, is the best part part about this place; check out my review on this MUST visit well kept secret in NJ. Our party of 12 ordered some drinks by the bar while we waited for our table. We were then seated and promptly brought over menus. The general manager Mike, came over to greet us and apologized for the long wait and as a courtesy offered us complimentary pizzas. I thought this was a nice touch, and made us all feel valued as guests. Our server was equally as accommodating and patient with our entire party, offering his recommendations and thoughts on the menu items. None of which disappointed. I ordered a bottle of wine which wasn't terribly priced and quite delicious as it paired nicely with the lamb chops that I ordered for dinner. Everyone else at the table seemed very pleased with their entrees as there was a moment of complete silence as everyone enjoyed their meal LOL...(usually a good sign). At the end of the meal, the staff came out with assorted desserts and sang well wishes to the birthday boy. Overall, if you are looking for a dining option for a special occasion, date night or a delicious meal, Rails Steakhouse is a MUST try. Conveniently located with good service, romantic vibe and delicious bites, you won't be disappointed. Tip: If you have time to kill before or after your dinner, please don't miss out on visiting their cozy speakeasy, Thirty3, on the ground level, thank me later!!!

Food was good, manager and staff were polite. It was our family celebration for kids starting out in colleges. We had five people being sat at a big table for 8-10ppl by the entrance of the second floor where was originally a waiting area. So, we can everyone walked in and passed by our table to get to the host on this floor. Of course, everyone saw us too! It didn't feel great without privacy! But we tolerated it instead of leaving to another restaurant. As we were told no suitable table left. We did make an reservation.

I hosted a large party of 22 girlfriends in the upstairs area. Our servers Jennie S. and Nick T. went above and beyond with smiles to accommodate all of our needs! (and we were needy lol)
