An Irish pub serving great food and drink in very friendly atmosphere. We visited twice as not that many British style pubs in the city and was close to our hotel. The food was particularly good value and with a pint of Guinness was just the job after a busy day sightseeing. Highly recommend. View all feedback.
What Vivienne Boyle doesn't like about The Porterhouse:
I'm not a real evaluation, but from my disgust I feel it a take. I know the brilliant culture that is expected to be called an Irish pub, but in this case it was not the case. the effort on the staff was great, but in all my years I never thought that I would be treated with such respect if I were to arrive with a customer of the own. their arrogance and attitude towards their employees and customers confused me. I'm not one that really ever reviews to do, but eating was terrible I ordered a T-bone with a pfeffer sauce and it was muddy and rough the sauce didn't taste something like a pfeffer. my mother, who visited sydney, ordered the ribs she had with food poisoning, without saying they seem to have been reheated - roughly sloppy. Service spot was nice enough, but eating was terrible.
Great location and beautiful old building, but some of the food good was under average. the medium-sized steak was well cooked and incredibly chewing. the seafood plate was up to the garnel that were beautiful and the chips were ok. the tiny scalops were clearly heated and overcooked by a frozen package. the broken fish was slimy and tasted. my friend ordered pork and they were delicious, so that's good, but I had a sick one for the rest of the night of trying to eat the fish. if they do not order guinness, the drinks are expensive, but a warm atmosphere in the inner and smoke area from the front. I understand that a business has to be stressful, but some courtesy and respect would be nice.
This pub offered relatiw cheap drinks that were rare in surry hills. when we were there, they had a pint or jug of magner's Sunday special. nice to sit outside on the pavement or on the bar. also sports channels were available. to the Irish pubs the earth, the good drinks and no craft beer gimmick offered. it could not have a lot of ambiente or character, but it served purpose if they only wanted to erase their thirst without breaking the bank.
Great irish food. Beef guinness pie is great but so is most of the menu that we have had. Reviews on here should only be kept if current some here are over years old. Every thing changes and I feel these reviews are incorrect.
