We came in for lunch a bit too early but they were happy to take our orders. Much appreciated. Good sized portions. We had a steak sandwich, blt and a schnitzel. Sandwiches were grilled which my friend really liked. View all feedback.
What Shawn Little doesn't like about Belgian Beer Cafe Melbourne:
Ordered the chicken burger, 1kg of mussels and a tasting plate. Was hoping for some real taste in the mussel sauce, but is was not the case. Supposed to be a tomato, garlic and basil sauce, but only tasted of tomato. The service was ok,...and we found a quiet corner away from the loud speakers in the main bar area. The tasting plate could of had a few more choices other than some onion paste, bread, sausage and some... View all feedback.
The food and service were exceptional. They had a fantastic selection of craft beers. I will definitely return.
Settled in for first opportunity in months to catch up with friends and share a meal. Mostly things were OK. Had to use an electronic menu. Would have been easier experience on a tablet but more difficult on a phone. This was a covid precaution...and not a permanent feature, thank goodness. Our service was below par and food was variable. My partner ordered Wiener Schnitzel and from the description, sounded delicious. Result was paper-thin and dry. It was overcooked (and deep-fried). Coleslaw was far from the promise made. Our friend had similar result with her fish and chips. Again, overcooked, dis-coloured and dry. My medium rare steak was medium well done at best. Our lunch was disappointing, the edge taken off our outing.
So much potential but $15-17 for a beer! corporate hangout Thurs/Friday night due to location, Food is 3/10.
This bar and restaurant, is just off the main thoroughfare on the Southbank. My wife and I found this bar by accident, and it's EXCELLENT!! Great food, lovely beer and excellent, friendly and professional staff. Reservations a must in the evenings.
This wasn't my first visit... years ago I visited with co-workers, in recent times it was also with co-workers but the experience was a mile apart. Years ago, I felt like I was going through the motions... this visit... the experience was different. Different co-workers,...different vibe. I wandered in and the gentleman found the table even though I wasn't sure what name it had been booked in), I was there very early because the invite in my calendar didn't reflect the time properly. The gentleman who showed me to my table could not have been more gracious to me. I ordered a Long Island Tea and sat to wait for my companions. We spent a few hours here, drinking and then having meals. Everything about this place is great... the prices are a little high but it's still worth the experience of being here. I ordered the gnocchi for dinner and it was utterly scrumptious. My photo did not do that meal justice... every morsel was exceptional. In every way this place wins! Put this on your list of Melbourne experiences! We are still talking about what an amazing night we had out.
