Despite some complaints about rude staff and slow service, many enjoyed the generous portions and flavorful food offerings, such as the Jumbo Prawns and Pulled Pork roll. The live music and lively atmosphere make it a great place to catch up with friends, especially on a warm Brisbane evening. However, be prepared for potential delays during peak times, as some customers experienced long waits for their meals. Despite mixed reviews, many patrons appreciated the attentive staff and quality of the food, making it a popular dining spot in Brisbane.
Compare to our P&W i have visited, I think this one have the best quality of food. I have been visited here for several times - dinner for two to event with over 15 people... consistent food quality and presentation.
Good old Pig & Whistle chain. They still do good fish & chips old English style & you can still have a great night out with friends with a few bevvies thrown in
Visited this place after a starving morning in the Convention Centre - this is a place to take the mates! Couple of beers during a match - no worries. The food was quite good, ordered the Jumbo Prawns and Pulled Pork roll. Generous serving with well above average flavours - the pulled pork was quite tender and was swimming in saucy goodness. I would only fault that the barkeeps are nowhere to be seen as well as the waiters - you would need to yell for attention a bit at the counter to get some service.
Vin and Mrs Merlot met some of Vin's school chums here after 32 years! Yes age had changed them so much that they failed to recognise each other!3pm Sat afternoon on the Melbourne Street side outside but covered area. Very pleasant, and nowhere as noisy as inside or near to screens with afternoon football. Can get pretty rowdy as the crowd moves in for Saturday night festivities.Normal drinks at not unreasonable prices plus a cheese and fruit platter ($24).Bears little resemblance to a British pub more akin to an Aussie beer barn.Nevertheless pleasant way to spend Saturday afternoon with old friends. Not bad at all
We ordered pulled pork roll, slow cooked Lamb Shanks, Smokey BBQ meaty Pork Ribs and of course alcohol. The pulled pork was like a sweet sauce, I hardly tasted any BBQ flavor, the pulled pork was rather cold while the bun was hard to eat too. The lamb shank was too, not so good. Big chunk chips was good. Other than that, it was a quiet night. The environment was great while the TV sports programmes was great to add on.
