The Rising Sun offers fantastic value, with delicious food and a friendly atmosphere in a beautiful village location. While some minor issues were reported with reservations and service, the pub's charming decor and variety of menu options, including special deals like Steak Night, make it a popular choice for a casual meal with family or friends. Very good service, there were four of us and all meals were very good. Reasonably priced, would recommend of an evening out.

This restaurant is in a stunning, village location. The ambience is friendly and relaxed and ideal for an informal meal with family or friends. The food is excellent and very good value for money, especially the Sunday lunch menu. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

What an exquisite pub in a lovely village centred on the Ashby Canal. Useful that the conservatory was suitable for a small well-behaved dog. Ability to book ahead really useful

The food at this restaurant was generally very good. However, the atmosphere was very quiet, possibly because it was not quite warm enough. We were seated at a table near the kitchen door, which unfortunately brought a draft of mixed kitchen smells and we could hear the staff singing along to their Christmas music every time the waitress walked in and out. It would be helpful if they could create a short corridor to shield the table from these distractions. They served a nice pint of Pedigree beer. The decor of the room feels very dated, reminiscent of the 1970s, and could benefit from a makeover to attract a younger crowd. Additionally, the cart wheel shaped windows should be updated to clear glass as the current yellow, opaque glass makes them look dirty and obscures the view.

We decided to order from the restaurant menu while sitting in the bar, which was a bonus since we were wearing walking boots and the floor was made of flagstones. The homely burgers were delicious and the steak Guinness pie was very enjoyable. However, the fish and chips were a bit greasy. They had a nice small selection of ales available. This would be an ideal stop for a quick meal during a day of walking.
