"After getting into York following a long train journey and wandering about town we saw the lights of Spark. We settled on a selection from Sloppys and the next door chicken place. My yo sold is a fussy eater and doesn’t like burgers but...he wanted to try one. The burgers were great and my son enjoyed it so much he wanted to go back the next night too. Overall we loved the food, the ambiance and service. The world needs more places like this"

"Menu had some vegan options that we not only tried there for a drink. Had a decaf oat latte that was good. It seems to be a habitable dog that was well-natured when a little stubborn in sniffs round for food."

"Oshibi is a total gem. I've lived in York for years and this is one of my favourite go to spots for a relaxed dinner. The food is authentic, consistently fantastic, and the atmosphere is always relaxed and welcoming. Mr maitre'd is lovely; he makes you feel at relaxed and at home immediately, and builds relationships with his regular customers. My one tiny quibble on service is that the menu is a little confusing at first, and the staff sometimes can't explain how it works but you figure it out! Definitely worth exploring for any foodie great for dining alone early in the evening and for bigger groups into the evening. It's a winner :"

"Stayed overnight here on a Sunday having spent the afternoon at the Barbican, watching the snooker. Chose to eat here and we both opted for the Sunday Roast, one beef and one chicken. Very nice food, good quality and freshly cooked. We did find the restaurant and bar area a tad cool as we were sat there and noticed the radiators weren’t on. However our room was warm, clean and functional. Breakfast next morning was excellent, if a little slow at coming out, although that was probably as it was freshly cooked to order. Free parking too is a huge bonus."
