"My family and I visited here on Saturday night for our tea. We were staying at Hall Park Hotel for a family party and the owner recommended The Royal George as somewhere for us to go to eat. There were 10 of us! The food was absolutely lush and didn't take very long to arrive from ordering. A lovely place that we'll defo go back to if we're in the area again"

"My wife and i went to the Terrace Cafe to have a Sunday dinner, firstly we were sent to table 21 which was occupies and then to another table waited 20 minutes nobody came then a couple with a young baby sat down on the next table, within 5 minutes they were served, my wife and i looked at each other and said lets go and left. Now this is not the first time this has happened but the second time, we looked around while waiting and there were plenty of waitresses but did not seem to be able to coordinate, my advice would be to employ a restaurant manager to coordinate the waitresses."

"We visited today and would’ve given four stars. Food was good and the young girls waiting on lovely and pleasant. We were just disappointed with the choice on the menu. We all perused the menu and were all a bit stuck for what to have so decided to ask what was on the specials (as printed on the menus ‘ask staff for special starters and mains’ and were told there weren’t any. Soo… back to the menu. Pie is usually a good option but lamb, black pudding and haggis didn’t tempt us. We used to really enjoy coming here when the menu included some good old faves like steak pie, sweet and sour chicken and lasagne might just be us but we feel the menu has gone a bit too ‘fancy’ so don’t think we will return. Sorry."

"Very typical spoons cheap pint at 2.50 on carlsberg, had 10oz rump with chips was OK steak good I think I could have done with at least 1 side though, still good value with a pint under 10quid"

"Overall we had a good experience, staff attentive and we will return. A small number of things just let our visit down a little, start of service no soap in toilets, all salt pots weren't able to pour salt and the bottom room in comparison to the other parts of the building were tired. Cow pie had a massive piece of braised steak, tender and good selection of veg, top of the pie had gone very hard and couldn't be cut but to be fair it was that big it didn't matter. Other dish was pasta which was very nice. The vegetarian options are very limited. Overall with a couple of tweaks I would have given 4 stars."
