"We had the surprise dinner and have to say the quality of the food alone is worth the five stars.It was truly an added bonus that when the bill arrived we had to very carefully check that all items were included as we were sure they had left something off.My only criticism would be that there was too much food served. We had asked for the three course meal, yet four savory courses were served and we had to stop before we even got to desert. This and also that there are no matching wine selection - this makes choosing wine difficult if you do not know what dish you will be eating (hence "surprise"). But these are small issues negated by the quality of food and price.We will definitely visit again."

"This resort is amazing. Right upon check in, the front desk was warm and welcoming. We received a complimentary Gluhwein on arrival and Oliver the GM was there to greet us personally within minutes. The half meal plan that comes with the Interval bookings is fabulous. We participated in the Raclette Hut one evening. What an incredible concept. The Hut is small and circular from the outside. Once on the inside, the seating is cozy and warm centered around a circular fireplace. The inside is made of pine paneling. We loved it and want to build one in our backyard in Arizona. Oliver, the GM, that never stops, was with us the entire night and was such a gracious, courteous delight. Our room, albeit small, was comfortable and came outfitted with the most spectacular balcony overlooking Lauterbrunnen Valley and surrounding mountains. Our complimentary mini bar was replenished every day. The Sunstar is conveniently located on Main Street Wengen and has a pick up service from the station. It is steps away from the Mannlichen cable car leading to one of the major ski areas in the region. I would stay here again and highly recommend it just for the service alone! Thank you Oliver for making our stay an exceptional experience."

"We were a party of 11 - and were quickly and swiftly accomodated. The children could play in the playground next to the restaurant. The food was great and simple, the service outstanding. We arrived late and they didn't bat an eye. And what an incredible view!! We would happily visit agiain."

"A nice place to eat when in Wengen. Right outside the train station, it's a good place to eat as soon as you enter or when about to leave Wengen. The number of waiters were less, so the eairing time was a bit more. So make sure you have the entire order ready when the waiter comes to your table. They'll bring out the dishes in the respective order. Dishes were great and I would definitely recommend the tomato soup with gin in it."

"We had 1st class service and want to thank Claude the manager especially for looking after us so well. We had a beautiful room overlooking the waterfall. We arrived early in the season and the restaurant wasn't open. The room was quiet, clean and next...to the lift. My only beef is that they did not cater for gluten-free diet."

"Stopped for desert at this wonderful old hotel on the way back to our AirBnB. We got there quite late, just before closing, but the staff was friendly and accommodating. We ate out on the balcony -- highly recommended -- and enjoyed the views."
