"This restaurant is now called Restaurant OLIVIER ARNOT La Chanceliere. If you are looking for a WOW kind of night, this is the place! My wife and I don't speak French but LOVE French cuisine. We arrived with no reservation and decided to do the 7-course tasting menu because we couldn't read the menu. We are so glad we did! Every course was an exquisite example of a chef that respects his ingredients and takes full advantage of the region. I would love nothing more than to give you a play by play dissertation of each course, but in most instances we had no idea. What we did know is that we loved each and every course. Simply fantastic! Great wine list and great service, not to mention the chef personally delivered half of the courses!"

"This restaurant was a discovery, which turned out to be a great culinary experience. Everything was absolutely perfect from welcome to check-in. Congratulations and thanks to the whole team, we spent an excellent time, with classic but just perfect dishes, starting with a homemade foie gras really lacking our expectations. We strongly recommend this inn to all lovers of French gastronomy, you will not be disappointed, it is obvious!"

"Had a super meal here last night. Amazing value, and our host was ever so sweet and very welcoming. My French is a little rusty but she spoke slowly for me and was happy to explain anything on the menu we couldn 't work out ourselves. I had the foie gras and pave de boeuf, both excellent with lovely big salad alongside the starter and simple vegetables and fries alongside a fantastic bit of beef in a red wine gravy (local chinon). With cheese and a feuille de fraise for desert. My fiancée had the salmon salad and a fruites de la creme (white fish in a cream sauce) with cheese and the same desert. The whole meal was under 60 euros. The wine is also very good value with a large glass at under 6 euros. I couldn 't believe it. It is a bit like being welcomed into someone 's home and felt really nice and French. This is not a restaurant that panders to the taste of American tourists, a truly French local meal and experience in a rustic and homely setting. There were two other groups in the restaurant when we visited. One appeared to be a large group of local French and the other was a French couple and young son who were visiting and staying in a gites nearby. The atmosphere is quite relaxed here but the service conversely is quite formal. Not 'crumb trays and petit fours ' formal but very traditional which was actually quite helpful with limited French as you knew what to expect. If you are in Tours and fancy a drive out to a new restaurant, or in Monts and can walk to the side where the SuperU is I would highly recommend it. Note: The hours may have changed now from those above (in previous posts) because we found ourselves in Monts on a Monday evening when a all the other restaurants are shut. We phoned at 8.30 and were happily seated by our host at 9.15."
