"Thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon tea. Food was fresh but could maybe do with more variety cake wise as was all very similar fruit cakes. Staff were attentive when needed but could have been more visual. Would highly recommend though."

"We had a wonderful lunch at At Home when we visited. We weren't an easy bunch either, 9 adults, including vegans and vegetarians, one baby and 3 dogs. We had to sit outside due to the dogs, but they were happy for us to move the tables around to accommodate buggies and dogs etc a seperate complete Vegan menu was available which is so rare. The food was delicious and the service friendly and efficient. Highly recommended, thank you"

"As part of our stay package we had two dinners in Carriages restaurant. The food was excellent and we enjoyed the relaxed manner. Some guests may not like the wait between courses but we found it encouraged conversation. If staying for a week or more the menu would have to make some changes for variety. The hotel does have a bistro restaurant with families in mind."

"I am a local to Cartmel. Called in for a cappuccino which was great. Made to feel very welcome by the staff and had a lovely conversation with Alison the owner. Didn’t have anything to eat but the food and cakes looked delicious. Was so nice and relaxing sitting outside people watching. Thanks Alison and staff"

"Imaginatively titled breakfast, but that's exactly what I was in search of. My week in the Lakes was nearly over and I wanted proper sustenance. The establishment is clearly a house that has been remodelled. Front room as a dining area, back room as the...kitchen/display area. Anyway I love a good coffee too, so a full English good coffee was ordered. It didn't take long, and the coffee was great and the full English good too. "Have been meaning to visit for some time an was not disappointed. Loved the Baileys latte and the chocolate waffle. The main problem was deciding what to have from the exciting range of goodies. Must go back!"

"We arrived here, the decor was homy, comfy, good atmosphere. We each ordered a chicken soup which came with a large roll which was extremely good and tasty. We then shared a slice of Toffee Apple Crumble Pie at which point my husband and I heard angels singing. If we were local this would definitely be one of our regular hangout spots."
