"I've been several times over the last couple of year and the last two times were inferior to previous visits. Service is worse, do nor accept credit cards any more and even the foos is inferior. The empanadas de carne are the same though."

"Pirandello is a classic in San Juan - reputed to be the best lomoteca by many. Having visited many times over the years I was pleased to find it was still as good as ever and not at all gone downhill as some reviews suggest. For those unfamiliar with the lomo, it is a sandwich of thinly sliced steak which comes with various additional ingredients such as ham, cheese, fried egg etc. My favourite is the simple lomo comun which just has steak, lettuce and tomato but with the double meat option - delicious! The bread is a thinish roll similar to a panini or a pita and it's pressed on the grill. You can also order 'al plato' where the same ingredients come without the bread. Other options are chicken or pork instead of beef but beef is the classic. The restaurant also serves pizza and other dishes but is best known for its lomitos, which incidentally are particularly good in San Juan, such that Sanjuaninos miss them when living in Buenos Aires where they're apparently nowhere near as good. I definitely recommend trying them while in San Juan. Note lomitos are an evening rather than lunch affair. Pirandello opens at 9pm but doesn't really get going till 9:30 or 10:00pm. Nice place to sit outside in summer."

"We traveled by bus from Santiago, Chile, something I would only recommend to do once. Only 122 miles as the crow flies, but it took all day. We had not eaten since breakfast and this may have been the only place to eat since leaving the Andes. But, with 20-20 hindsight, it would have been better to go hungry just a bit longer than stop here. The place looks very bucolic and rustic from the outside. Bit worn and somewhat akin to western inside logs and timbers used as supports.Bathrooms were dreadful. Have seen much better truck stop bathrooms and they are also terrible. The food, the reason we were there. Our waitress was pleasant enough. Ordered a cold one right away. Took a look at the grill area, and the cook was slicing up steaks. The meat looked good and we were now in Argentina. Have been in the beef capital of the world, i know better than to order fish so far inland when the beef is so good and reasonable. So just about everyone ordered steaks of some kind. I ordered my steak rare, and everyone else ordered theirs from rare to well done. When the steaks were served, the waitress, who by the way did not take down any written notes of who ordered what, just served everyone without asking who had asked for rare, medium rare , etc., because it did not matter. All the steaks were cooked all the same and they looked to be all the same. They were all cooked well, well done. They were terrible. When people complained , our waitress made some excuse about the cook being new and ended up saying to others,"

"Standard Parrillada on Hwy 7 just before going to Chile. I saw the Chivito Hoy shield and had to go. We had a part of the baby goat for me and a 1/4 chicken for my wife and we share a salad, a beer and a 1/2 bottle of wine for $35 US including tip. Very good food."

"We had a wonderful dinner at La Juanita. We arrived an hour before opening time but we're let in early for a beer and some empanadas while the kitchen got ready. The service was attentive and the empanadas and pasta dishes we ate were amazing. There are lots of good vegetarian options as well. The restaurant is a little out of town but makes for a very pleasant walk both before and after dinner. Surrounded by mountains and a horse pasture, the restaurant is in a great location and has plenty of windows to let in the light and let you appreciate the views."

"The restaurant is not the most elegant of places but food was very good, there were dishes apart from the standard meat on the menu and service was quick and friendly. A place to come back to."
