"This is NOT a Michelin star restaurant! Whatever people may say about the food and prices, the Galinette does not offer a service comparable to a star restaurant, it is not even close to it. I’m a foodie, visiting Michelin star and other highly rated restaurants regularly, and I was bitterly disappointed. In a Michelin star restaurant I expect extraordinary good food, prompt and attentive service, delightful surprise dishes and a nice setting. The Galinette doesn’t meet any of those expectations. The food is tasty, but not at all refined. Arranging vegetables and fruit on a plate in a beautiful way, sprinkled with fresh herbs, DOES NOT MAKE THE FOOD WORTH A MICHELIN STAR! Paying 72 euro for a menu including fish and meat, I didn’t expect to eat 80% vegetables with little distinct taste, rather many confused tastes. The bread we were served first was definitely from the day before, hard as brick. No oil, butter or other starters were offered. Any local brassiere would at least have offered fresh olives or chips! Instead of the goat cheese that was on the menu, we got a roquefort that was so strong that my eyes watered. I guess they were out of the goat cheese… When it comes to service, it just gets worse. We waited at least 10 minutes for any service to arrive. There were only two waiters for the whole restaurant, serving around 35 guests. One of the them was doubling as a sommelier. He attended our table three times during the whole sitting. We were left sitting several times without any drinks or bread on our table. we ended up with drinking two glasses of wine during the whole evening, with one additional glass for dessert. No one ever asked us if everything was to our liking. We got away with a bill of just over 100 euro per person, which was far too much for the experience we’ve had. This being the only Michelin star restaurant in the area, I must say my trust in the Guide has been seriously diminished. SHAME!"

"To start I have to draw your attention the star rating above, this restaurant is not average but neither is it very good, hence the caveat erring on the side of caution a sixth star good option please Tripadvisor .To be found in the backstreets...of Perpignan in perhaps not the most chic of areas, we have the 17 . The review history of the venue is quite understandable because their is an abundance of culinary skill in the kitchen but I have tried to take a more objective, dispassionate view of the global experience. Many of the glowing reviews above are based on a lunchtime visit and offering a very resonable set menu which I believe if you are lucky with the ingredients could be fantastic value for money. This is a classic michelin star loss leader strategy hoping you will return in the evening where they really ramp up the prices, in fairness the noblesse of the ingredients invariably improves as well. Once through the door, one walks past the open plan kitchen to a modern dining room, which whilst being pleasant enough is not brimming with atmosphere, ordinary tableware,no linen tablecloths, smallish tables, somewhat dim lighting and a low ceiling. Sadly the evening diner is not offered a menu option and is shown the A la Carte menu on a chalkboard, 4 starters, 4 mains and 4 desserts. An average of 43€ for the first two courses per person, not cheap ! As to the actual food I happily concede my octopus starter was utterly sublime, shame it was served on a clumsy celeri remoulade, and the various fussional additions were hard to discern, sadly there wasn 't enough on the plate. My wife was equally enchanted with her smoked trout starter, these were the stars of the evening. A promising start led to a so-so middle. My main course beef cheeks were beautifully presented, whilst well cooked were overpoweringly winey and mono dimensional, my partners cod fillet , again wonderfully presented, proved to be very bland with an unpalatable soggy skin, the risotto was undercooked and not creamy with no discernable curry influence. Desserts were decent without being extraordinary. The service was friendly if a little slow and we didn 't appreciate the waitress coming to the table picking up one of the wine glasses, checking the contents putting it back and walking away, it seems we had outstayed our welcome.To conclude, I really wanted to like this place having heard so many good things about it and the chefs have undoubted skill , however they have pitched themselves at a price point where they are almost competing with michelin star eateries without being able to follow through. There is more than feeling of style over substance, the portions are small,the cooking was inconsistent, the service and setting leave a little to be desired and overall I feel they do not offer value for money even within a fine dining context 280€ for 4"

"A pleasant restaurant, quick service and excellent reception. A wide choice of Italian pasta and dishes. My favorite, spaghetti alle Vongole. It’s delicious. The tiramisu is generous, traditional recipe in the form of cake but so good! I move a lot on the South and when I’m in Perpignan, it’s one of my favorite addresses. Let's go to find out!"

"Although a single person operation, the food was great. Its not fast food but cooked to order. The choice is good. The restaurant is small and only holds about 20people from what we saw. Never been before but it was recommended and we will go again."
