"We went here for a Saturday lunch and had a really lovely time in this cosy pub. The vibe is exactly what I look for in a country pub with a good balance of walkin space and tables for drinkers and diners. It feels welcoming to all. The food was of a high standard and I was particularly impressed with their homemade pie. I saw a review here saying they felt it was overpriced but i feel well crafted good food made with quality produce should not be cheap and I think it's fair. The service was friendly if a little bit shy."

"Food is lovely home cooked food. We got 2 for 1 which was brilliant steak and gammon for price of one meal....staff always polite and helpful nothing is too much trouble and they make you feel very comfortable. We love it here whether it is to have breakfast at weekend or a nice relaxing meal."

"For the first time the admiral hornblower visited the lunch and was pleasantly surprised by the feeling of the restaurant. we had not booked, but that was no problem and immediately showed to a table for four. the staff was very professional and the four meals we had were excellent. good value for money, would certainly return and recommend."
