"We were on holidays with my wife, and we decided to eat at "L'entr'acte" the waiter, was speaking a fluent english despite his youth, even if he was new to this job it was a great night, he payed much attention to us, we ate very well. I have nothing more to say, Now, we do know where to eat when we'll come back"

"Totally ruined evening and waste of money. Long wait for food and then the entrée arrived at the same time as the plat. Unacceptable. The frites were cold. Pleasant waiter doing his best and I complained, in my poor French, to the manager who agreed to not charge for the entrées. Could not recommended this restaurant at all."

"Village de Chine is a promising looking diner style restaurant on the industrial outskirts of the city of Niort. Eye catching Neons pull you in, you think this is going to be great, proper Beijing or something. I was hungry enough to try - and too tired to continue the km or two further to the city. I have had some great buffets over the years and liked the idea tonight, and signed in for the deal - '14 Euro, all you can eat'. First alarm bells were the average diner here were students, obviously a bad sign. Slightly sticky table, it was a hot evening. Then the buffet. A lack lustre, limited choice and sad presentation of the various meals. A lot of batter dishes, many half or 3/4 empty trays and bits of rice and noodle etc left on the serving areas around the trays, the staff are not proactively cleaning up. I tried a few dishes, the batter on the prawns was flour-ry and no flavour. Chillie prawns I think, barely any chillie. Sesame chicken or something like that (tons of sugar and MSG by the taste), morsel size pieces of meat. Beef was quite lean and tender but not interesting. Its a step up probably from School dinners, which maybe is why half a dozen tables of students were there and a couple of families with small kids. The erm, 'Chef' made an appearance from the kitchen and he looked disinterested to me, like his food. Value for money?, well for 14 Euro it's a rip off because the choice is poor and the quality totally unrepresentative of proper Chinese food. Its a contender for me, for the worst Chinese Buffet experience I ever had, and definitely the worst restuarant in France I have ever been to - on the whole French eating is amazing (including Thai, Chinese's etc). There is a full menu to choose from if you don't want buffet (now, you don't want buffet do you ...), but I cannot be optimistic to think there is going to be a quantum jump in quality - and I'm not going to find out, I'll leave that to a future reviewer. If you are on this road KEEP DRIVING, head to town I am sure you can do much much better than this. If you want amazing food, head in the opposite direction 25km on the road to La Rochelle, stop at Benon - Le Relais la Floret for incredible food."

"We booked this restaurant for the evening to celebrate a special occassion. We had the whole restaurant for our party of 34 guests. We had a fantastic meal that was beautifully presented espicially the way the two desserts had been personalised with beautiful marzipan designs.We highly recommended the Bergerie as a place for large groups as well as a very good quality everyday lunchtime restaurant. It has an excellent chef who serves freshly cooked quality food at reasonable prices"
