"This is no longer a pastry lovers heaven. The best vegan vegetarian option is a mix of the salads of the day. It can be cramped. And it's not open in the early part of the week. Updated from previous review on 2015-01-30"

"Do you like home made pies, pasties, sausage rolls and other pastries? If you do, give this place a go. I had a sausage roll and chicken spinach pastie. Both were delicious. The Mrs sank a coffee and gave it a big thumbs up. There are plenty of sweets to try as well. There is also plenty of seating if you want to dine in. So if you like supporting local business, please consider!"

"Went on a wet winters day and sat outside with our dog which is undercover. My husband had the rogan josh which he really enjoyed, nice flavour with a kick. I had the focaccia with caramelised onion, cauliflower gratin and salami, very nice. The staff was friendly and enjoyed a nice glass of Pepperjack.<br/"

"As far as pizza is concerned these guys nail it every time. Takeaway or dine in... different special each week... plus they put nutella on a pizza and its incredible!"

"Desserts here eclipse the main menu the servings are generous size so share if you can. Loved the interior wondered if the heritage items has been preserved intact. My four stars is for overall experience. I broke my cardinal rule of 'never order seafood/fish ' in a pub setting paid the price. Barramundi was stale the rice like straight out thawed texture though the presentation looked enticing. Others liked what they had. Friendly wait staff. Recommend draught Harcourts apple cider."

"A trip to Castlemaine isn’t compete without visiting The Mill complex. A mixture of art, antiques, a brewery, chocolatier, ice creamery and Das Kaffeehaus. Eclectic, welcoming interior (complete with a chandelier), an Impressive (and exhaustive) coffee menu, complemented by hearty German cuisine. We had the generous sized chicken snitzel burger. Super friendly staff and an experience to remember!"

"Castlemaine is a large city that is hardly a city, so this fine Thai restaurant is a blessing for the city. it is a trifle unusual to find a good Thai restaurant in a city this size, especcially one that serves exxcellent food. . I would recommend naam pla thai, I have eaten several times and eating was always full of taste. the prices are basic prices for what they get."

"After a walking tour of Castlemain, we were looking for something warm and hardy - and Das Kaffeehaus provided both! Given the name, we werent sure about the quality of food they would provide - but absolutely no problem - if anything the food is the highlight over the beverages! The three of us shared a goulash, meat platter and terrine platter. Even though it was a weekday, it was very busy and the waiters were a bit flustered and didn't like it when we asked for a 'real' table - not one of the tiny tables with stools - after all the walking we needed chairs with backs!! They got better when we ordered food, not just coffee. Unfortunately the table was near one of the entrances and so we froze everytime some one came through the door. In summary - great place to eat - just avoid the tables near the entrance!"
