"Best Indian restaurant in Melbourne! I was introduced to this place 7 years ago and still go there despite having moved house... I tried to find an Indian place in my area, but none of them compared! Well worth the drive, the butter chicken is especially good!"

"Never had a good experience in this café ever, the last one being completely under cooked burger with my Sausage egg muffin on Cappuccino from the cafe section, half cup of coffee only full of froth, highly untrained staff, always delays, mix-ups and substandard...food, VERY UNSAFE PLACE TO EAT"

"Pretty good compared to other McDonald’s I’ve been to. The drive thru usually has fast service and the food is better than some other McDonald’s I’ve been to. Location is also decent and is easy to access so this is probably one of the better McDonald’s I’ve been to."

"A small family run Indonesian restaurant in Camberwell, this one surprised us with an extensive menu.Traditional Balinese cuisine, with a good selection of vegetarian options in entrée and mains. The service was great, husband and wife team, cheerful and helpful. We ordered 4 entrées to share for 6 and 2 main dishes. The portions were quite generous and we did not feel hungry. The dessert options were pretty good as well, ordering 5 desserts to share, the portions were adequate.Positives: Good sized portions, food arrived fresh and piping hot.The descriptions were pretty good and proprietor helpful in making choices.Stand out dishes were the gado gado and sayur urap. The janganan bali was pretty good as well. The pancake & ice cream dessert was very different.Negatives: small restaurant with a take-away joint like vibe. While the restaurant is a BYO, only coke/lemonade was available, which was quite disappointing. The spice levels were quite low, we asked them to give us some red chillies to add to the dishes, surprisingly the spiciest item was the dessert rujak manis with a red chilly dressing! The Balinese couple who run the place were very charming and as we were the only patrons at the place, the wife came out to chat with us. We'll be back again!"

"Small local restaurant in Murrumbeena has a menu full of tasty choices for people requiring gluten free meals. 98% of menu is gluten free. I enjoyed meal there recently with group of 8 people and we all enjoyed a wide variety of meals and desserts. Chef is fully aware of gf requirements. Worth a visit!"

"1st time here. Food was nice but small dishes for the chow mein and seafood claypot(only half full). Crispy chicken was a good plate size."

"We dined on a Saturday morning, about 10am(ish). The place was empty apart from two other couples. Whilst we were there only 2 or 3 other couples came in. Most odd for a Saturday morning, but perhaps not so, considering the food we received! We ordered “Smashed avocado with roasted truss tomatoes, Danish feta & 2 poached eggs on multigrain toast - $17.50”. What an extreme case of misrepresentation! What we received was 2 tiny slices of multigrain (Vienna shaped) toast (from the size I suspect they were the ends of the loaf, and they’d have been lucky to be 5mm thick; not toast thickness at all). The avocado was most certainly not “smashed” – it was “mashed”, and spread so sparingly it resembled a scraping of butter on the toast. The eggs were tiny, and the most “average” poached eggs I’ve ever eaten. The truss tomatoes must still be growing on the bush, as we received 2 or 3 unripened tiny cherry tomatoes, cut in half so as to look like there was a lot more on the plate. The miniscule amount of crumbled feta resembled nothing more than a plate garnish. Overall, an extremely disappointing experience. In hindsight, I should have sent the food back, but I didn’t want to cause a fuss (the other couple of diners would have heard every word!). The hot chocolate was very good (possibly one of the best cups I’ve ever had, so they’ve got that bit right – I believe their coffee is good too!). The staff were polite, but I wouldn’t say there was any “service”. The menu was handed to us as if it was an effort to even walk to our table. We weren’t offered table water at all, nor were we asked if we’d like anything additional after we finished our meal. I won’t ever go back, and I’ll most definitely be telling my friends not to bother going. Word-of-mouth is the best form of marketing for any business, and sadly for Raven Hill Café, they’re doing it wrong!"
