"Café Central is located right in the heart of Lübeck's old town in a small side street, which forms the connection between the town hall square and Hüxstraße. Central is not only an empty word sleeve, but fits perfectly to the position on the Lübeck city map. This is a truly good location (especially in the seamen to the famous Niederegger house, which guarantees a great stream of potentially hungry tourists, which will definitely stroll along their city tour. It is therefore also useful to focus on a concept that combines both a late breakfast/brunch and lunch and evening offer. Whether it's just a loveless tourist copying, I just wanted to find out for myself during a visit. Outside view. The facade of Café Central presents itself throughout black. The interior, which, however, is painted in brighter and cream-colored tones, is also neutral in color. As with so many houses in the city centre, this place also expands to the rear with a smaller space width. For this reason, a long upholstery bench on a wall side has also been decided in the interior area, which are allocated several two tables and the associated opposite chairs. The furniture is modern and in good condition. I also felt the illumination held in warm tones as appropriate, especially on this rainy day. Optical eye-catcher is probably the big poster of the Lübeck old town on the right wall, which is also intended to illustrate how “central” one lies here. Of course, the wide walkway in front of the house with several two tables is used as an outdoor area, which was of course not the case on this rainy day. A awning, however, only extends over the first row of tables as rain protection. Even the romantic 80's music could have been a bit damper for my younger ears. ; With the service of the guests, in the early afternoon of my arrival a young lady was entrusted, who welcomed me very kindly even after my entry. After a proper check of the vaccination status, I was also pleased that my wish for a change in the food I ordered was very pleased to receive. A question about satisfaction was also a good impression of their service. Last but not least, I also had to wait for this and don't pay for too long, even if they could have been a bit more fleeting in view of the low rise. The map is divided into two parts at Café Central. The set part focuses on standard and usual breakfast options that do not reveal surprises compared to competitors. In addition, there are other hearty foods as they can be found in almost any local, who somehow want to meet the taste of the entire population: pasta, pizza, salad etc. This choice, too, makes more sense in view of the main tourist attraction and is by no means to be regarded as a depreciation for me, as long as the quality, freshness and sense of taste vote. Also prices between approx. 6 16 € certainly do not scare off a customer, but do not initially speak for very high-quality or refined dishes. By contrast, the dishes for the lunch table, which come on a special card under the name “Daily Dishes”. On the day of my visit there were, for example, a must party with salt potatoes, pork fillet with tagliatelle and gogonzola sauce or salmon fillet with broccoli, potato roast and saffron sauce. Here, too, one concentrates mainly on dishes that serve the broad, universal taste. My personal choice was still a classic from the solid card: the “Penny Sherry”, for me in a vegetarian variant with cherry tomatoes, onions and mushrooms in a sherry cream sauce for €11.9. After a short waiting period, the hot portion of pasta came to my table together with salt and pepper mill. “Penny Sherry” with onions, mushrooms, sherry cream sauce and on my wish cherry tomatoes instead of turkey breast. The first impression was the penne, which had been cooked optimally al dente, even though they were probably not homemade (which was not claimed, however,). The onions glassy with pleasant bite. The mushroom slices also sprayed their typical aroma and were not labbrig. Finally, the cherry tomatoes showed in roasted places that they had previously landed in the hot pan. Of course, I was also interested in the sauce, which was primarily the reason for my choice of dishes. She was certainly not lacking suspicion. So it remained well adhered to the penne and also gave the dish a pleasant portion of salt and spice, which is why I did not have to make use of the two mills. There was a tasty piff in contrast to a normal cream sauce but not for my impression. I would have hoped for a little more of the spicy nutty aroma or also an acidity game with the “Sherry” award. But for the price level called, the dish was tasteful and above all also handcrafted satisfactorily and also the portion size matched. All in all, Café Central remains an impression that can best be described with the expression consistently good, but inconspicuously. Beginning with the sober but modern and pleasant atmosphere, the service team also provided a friendly performance. Culinary you will definitely not find yourself here from the presentation of the food offer in search of surprises or tasteful highlights. More lucky is the one who is looking for a fast and the wallet is not heavily loaded and yet tasty meal. A good one could also be enjoyed here without financial pain, even if it won't be remembered."
