"After waiting for some time, we were eventually shown to our table with the wave of a hand. Shortly thereafter the young owner-manager came to greet us with a warm welcome full of promise for the evening to come. While the 'Menu' was twice the price of our favourite restaurant in the next village, we were willing to try it given the lovely setting. However we were truly disappointed. The foie gras was over salted to the point of being almost inedible and the portions were small. The risotto was undercooked and without flavour and again the portion was small. The fish was properly cooked but nothing special, a real disappointment. For the price there should have been another course, but only cheese or dessert was offered. There was a nice selection of local cheeses. When the owner came to ask how the dinner was, we explained the problems. His answer unbelievably was that no one else had complained and he was surprised. He then avoided us for a while and made no attempt to put things right. It was clear he lacked training in the industry and further that his chef was really a cook. We kept thinking of the fine food we were missing (for half the price) at the other restaurant. What saved the evening from complete disaster was a talented female singer who at least kept us entertained."
