"The Malapel family has been running this restaurant since 1945, when the structure was part of the local railway station. Les Platanes specialises in the cuisine of the Dombes and Bresse. This evening we had hors d'oeuvres of foie gras de canard poêlé, terrine maison and carp sausage. For the entrée a selection of grenouilles, lake fish, Bresse chicken and Charolais beef, followed by a choice selection of mostly local cheeses, and the freshest desserts of sorbets from fresh forest fruits. The wine was a 2012 Givry from Joseph Drouhin in south Burgundy. The service was friendly and attentive, and the ambience inviting and unpretentious. Mme Malapel took care to talk with all her guests, and her son Serge heads the kitchen. In summer the terrace under the plane trees is very popular, but this year the weather has not been so kind. I would recommend Les Platanes unreservedly to anybody who seeks to try the local cuisine in Dombes/Bresse."

"If this restaurant had not been recommended by friends, we would probably not have tried it out, as from outside it looks like another old-fashioned French restaurant and a little dated around the edges. We arrived at the restaurant without a booking about midday, and it soon filled, so the booking would be advisable. The family was able to find us a table, and that was a happy find. The lunch menu at E19 proved to be an excellent value, and began with an amuse beech of a vegetable mousse, and an amazing beetroot ice cream, which certainly buds. The meal that followed was one of the best until today during the trip in this region............. and my choice was .local pate, cote du pork with a vegetable and beef sauce, and a very sharp lemon balm. There were many possibilities on this E19 menu. Would strongly recommend this restaurant."

"Located in the chapel of the tower this small restaurant does not pay a mine at the entrance, but the welcome is very nice, and the menu of the day including entrance, dish, cheese or dessert, drink and coffee at 13,50 is tip top. hot goat salad and that of times poultry are good and generous. When the cod donuts have a real treat. I strongly recommend"
