"Hoepfner Burghof is a hotel and restaurant adjecent to the Hoepfner brewery. They serve all varieties of Hoepfner beers at the Burghof. Staff is well aware of the varying tastes and they were keen to point out their favorites and which goes well with what mail. Knowledgeable staff bonus points. As a Dutch person working in the south of Germany, I will never get used to the habit of serving the cold salad first, then the meat floating in an ocean of gravy 15 minutes later. #ExpatProblems). There is no effort put into this salad, as they slap on each presumable canned) ingredient separately on a single dish, as if they stood in a salad buffet line for you but didn't know what to get you. The main dish however is superb. You can tell they put pride in their main courses. I ate there both evenings during my stay and was very pleased with the quality of the meal both times. The meat was tender and rich in flavor. For dessert the host suggested we try caramelized asparagus. He did this with a straight face. I tried it. While not as off putting as it sounds I am not a fan. Proceed with caution. As touched on before, the best part of this restaurant is the service and the atmosphere. The servers are among the most hospitable I've ever encountered. They are kind, smiling and possess great knowledge of the food and beer they are serving. They are humorous, reasonably versed in English not tested, as I am proficient in German), and throughout the meal they keep checking to see if everything is in order. Their demeanor is an ideal fit for the restaurant, as it gives the entire room a feeling of coziness and warmth. 5 stars.
