"Visited last week for a meal with couples 6 of us. The building is gorgeous, a beautiful place to be. Serving staff are friendly, helpful and engaged. The menu was not extensive and the food, though well enough cooked and presented, was simply average and unremarkable. Service from the kitchen was slow, but I happen to prefer this to food fired at you fast and furious. Plenty of time to eat each course. Unfortunately, the food was cool/cold by the time it got to us. No one was at all happy with that! The music was simply unbearable. Too loud, demanding and unpleasant for a relaxed Saturday dining experience. Truly unsure what the psychology behind it is, but it was awful and penetrated the ambience and pleasure of friends eating together and enjoying themselves. 0/10 for the ‘ambient’ music. Taking all of this as a whole experience, the verdict of all 6 was ‘won’t be back’. Shame really as the location and setting is great."

"Here have our friends who have been customers of “Balbirs” at different locations for over 40 years! it was excellent. no, the usual tasting curry house tariff ever. lamb rogan josh was beautifully spiced and the bell armi and 65 chicken starters. were also delicious. if I lived closer, I would also be regular!"

"I thought the set menu looked good, seemed good value and good choice. However we were not impressed with the quality of the food. I had mozzerella sticks, can't really go wrong with them but didn't like the sauce being all over the plate and not to dip in. My friend had chicken strips, good size portion for a starter but they were quite dry and the bbq sauce wasn't pleasant. Main courses were most disappointing. I had BBQ beef brisket but it should be sold as a roast beef dinner. There was far too much of the overly sweet bbq sauce (gravy). My friend ate less than half of her macaroni cheese as it wasn't very nice and her garlic bread had no garlic, just toasted bread. Overall pretty disappointed."

"Service was very poor. It took 20 minutes to get served for a drink. Even then, that was us asking staff to get served. Bearing in mind you only get the table for 1.5 hours. Once served the starter came out pretty fast but the main course took 50 minutes to come out from finishing the starter."
