"Fantastic night on the 23 of Dec 2020 thanks to the so welcoming and smiling Jonathan and the beautiful food. We were there a group of 7 to celebrate my son's birthday (one of his favourite restaurant) For a lot of us it was our...first time experience with Ethiopian food so they choose the chef's platter..Soooo delicious ...The meat was so tender the flavours were new and delicate.We will be back for sure And please Jonathan don't change you are terrific..And By the way Happy New year 2021 Fantastic night on the 23 of Dec 2020 thanks to the so welcoming and smiling Jonathan and the beautiful food. "Nyala deserves to be packed out every night; but it is really good to be able to just rock up with some wine and have a great meal. If there are three, or more, people I would recommend the mixed entrees/dips, the meat combo and the vegetarian combo. If you only have two then go for the mixed entrees/dips and the two meat/two veg platter. It gives you a great combination of flavours. We eat here often and have never been disappointed. The atmosphere is great, the waiters terrific, the food always good and the prices very reasonable. If they have the music on Saturday it is well worth the extra $2 as well. If you ring them and give them a heads up you can have gluten free Injera as well. What I really like is the food is spiced for taste, rather than heat, but they do have dishes that can blow away your tastebuds if you want to. The waiter will be happy to guide you."

"On the recommendation of our lovely and accommodating waitress, we ordered the mixed vegetarian plate and the mixed meat plate. Absolutely delicious! We washed it down with a bottle of sweet but fresh honey wine (also amazing) and were very impressed with our dinner! Would...definitely come again!"

"Wow ... really interesting eatery on the edge of the CBD - just opposite Victoria Markets in Victoria Street.We tried shared chicken, lamb and shrimp dishes. Served on a communal platter with a little green salad and a light 'elastic' roti type bred.Whoa what an interesting experience for the palate ...Slightly spicy, curry type sauce and a wonderful taste sensation.Really well patronised - which I imagine would be testament to consistently good food.Limited house wine and beer available.I feel privileged to have found this little gem.All in all, another great Melbourne experience!"

"The food was delicious and the service was absolutely wonderful. Our waiter was so friendly and took the time to explain the dishes to us as it was our first time and showed us the traditional way they eat it. We had the sambosas and peppers as the starters and for mains the chicken, lamb with collard greens, yellow lentils and beetroot dish which were all very tasty. My favourite was the creamy lentils paired with the Injera flat bread. The bread was soft and tender and was slightly tangy. The honey wine was also sweet and delicious pairing to go with the meal. Would definitely go again and try their other platters!"
