"Apparently reviewer Patrick B does not know the difference between a hospitality college and a culinary school. This old French Chateau is also home to a college, as part of the endowment made by the Baron who bequeathed the building to the city. The restaurant is not part of the college. And the college doesn't even offer courses in the culinary arts. My wife and I are from Chicago, USA, and are not culinary snobs, but we have eaten at enough fine restaurants in six continents to know good from bad. Being in Ferrieres-en-Brie on business, we went to Le Baron for our anniversary dinner and were not disappointed. The service was exceptional and the staff went out of their way to make our evening special. The rack of lamb was perfectly prepared medium rare, just the way I ordered it. My wife's scallops were succulent and the sauce was amazing. Wine recommendations by the glass paired perfectly with our dishes. The setting couldn't be more elegant How could anyone complain? If you find yourself in Ferrieres-en-Brie, are are looking for something special, we would highly recommend Le Baron. We have paid far more for dining experiences that were not half as memorable."

"Yes, France is a place where many of the Starbucks don't open until 9 or 10 am (some in the USA are open at 3:30 am thank Goodness) so for superearly risers like me the choices of where to get a coffee and a croissant in Paris at 5 am is basically this place and nowhere else! I don't want to make it sound like I settled for it, as this is a marvelous patisserie regardless of the hour. The pain au chocolate was exemplary, and the cappuccino was totally superb. The lady behind the counter is exquisitely polite and friendly, and the place is spotlessly clean and comfortable. So whether you're a sleepless earlybird or just want to find a great patisserie in the Paris eastern suburbs, this is the place!"
