"Amazing food! The Purple Rolls are quite possibly the best thing I have ever eaten. Every roll is like a composed dish, just in a smaller size. The Chocolate Torte is one of the best deserts I have ever had. I don’t think you can go wrong when orderering off their menu. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5"

"I really don't understand why this restaurant gets good reviews. Had dinner here with my husband. He ordered veal parmigiana. It was literally as tough as shoe leather. The server offered to bring him another serving that was made fresh. Really??? So obviously the first dish was sitting around and recooked. It was awful. The replacement dish was better but not wonderful. I ordered spaghetti Puttanesca. The sauce was bland, no flavor at all, with some olives and capers. It tasted like they opened a can of tomatoes, threw in some olives and capers, then served it. So far from what Puttanesca sauce should be. The salads were average at best. Dressing was not made in house. We will not return. There are so many other excellent restaurants in the area. Don't waste your money."

"The restaurant was over booked. We arrived at 6:45 for a 7:00 reservation. We were seated at 7:20. Our table was not in the original 86 West. We were taken outside through the rain and across the way to the State Street Steak and Seafood. We were a party of 3 at a table made for 2 people that was crammed in the corner. The room was very small with a low ceiling. There was a party of ~25 people right next to us. They were actually using our table for the jackets and purses. That we had to wait for them to move. The noise level was very high as you might expect from a big party. We couldn’t hear each speak. We ordered drinks but asked to be moved, since we felt like we were attending a private celebration and it was extremely loud. We were told that they had too many reservations and there were no other tables. The food and service was great. Sadly I would never go back there if I know that we weren’t going to be seated in 86 West. Sitting in SSS&S was an entirely different dining experience. It was awful and for the price, not worth it! The worst part was my daughter and I took my wife out for her birthday. Just a horrible experience and not what we had ever experienced at 86 West in many past evenings."
