"Ordered online waited 35 min only to go inside and my food hasn’t been started . Employees didn’t come to the register acknowledge the door bell rung on the door .One was on the phone having personal conversations and the other was eating until having to yell hello serval times to be told my food isn’t ready and will be started . Customer service plays a huge role my food came out 1hour and 30 min later . As going in to grab my food an employee with piercings came out the back greeted a customer and proceeded to ask the customer if they sell crack like not even kidding . My food didn’t come out correctly nor hot for the long wait . Very disappointed. This place need to be shut down and will be contacting the health department."

"I’m pretty sure I ended up eating a glass shard (or something very similar to it) that was in the Mac n cheese, my friend asked me why I was gagging so bad and it’s cause I was terrified I was chewing something hard while eating the Mac n cheese, I ended up pulling a piece of glass out my mouth and was disgusted. I went to the owner and told her about it because I’m concerned about health and well beings and she said she doesn’t have any glass and said nothing more after I showed her what I pulled out her food. She was dismissive and looked at me like I was crazy like I was the one that fed her glass. I was super excited to try this place out, got a little disappointed with the customer service ."

"When I think Chicago food scene, BBQ is no where near the top of my list, but Soul and Smoke could change that with their entire menu because the food never misses. I've eaten at their Wabash location and had their Sunday brunch special in Time Out Market and I'm telling you, they are on point. The first time I ever ordered was for carry out. I was worried about how the food would stay on the trip home, but when I got home, it was perfect. The pork shoulder was tender and flavorful, the mac and cheese SLAPS and their cornbread is the perfect pairing for their greens. I was pleasantly surprised. At this point, I've tried most of their menu. The pork shoulder and ribs are my favorite. The Mac and cheese is always a must order and even though I'm normally not a fan of brisket, theirs is phenomenal! Usually other places have a cut of meet that's too fatty, but Soul Smoke strikes the perfect balance with their cuts. The real test for any barbecue restaurant is if the meats taste good without any sauce. And while I love a saucy barbecue rib, the proof that Soul Smoke is good as everyone says is the fact that it tastes great without the sauce. Lastly, love that this is a black owned, woman run family business. I try to be intentional about how/where I spend my money and I've been so proud to support this business over the last year."
