"The most AMAZING beef roast! We walked in not knowing what to expect and we were pleasantly surprised. The main menu was a little pricey so we chose from the specials board. $24 for a beautiful roast. Washed down with several glasses of house red for only $8! Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Such a lovely vibe we will for sure be back! Thanks!"

"My wife and I regularly take part in the concerts “Morning Music at the Old Museum” at the magnificent, ornate Old Museum Building in Gregory Terrace in Bowen Hills, played by talented solo jugend musicians from the Queensland Youth Symphony. After these concerts we usually take a...Translink bus to the neighboring Fortitude Valley and enjoy a nice lunch together to make it a great day. After the concert on 8 April 2021 we went along Brunswick Street Mall and just happened by chance on the historic and iconic Royal George Hotel stumbled and it looked a beautiful place for lunch so that we decided to go this place. At this time, there were already 19 restrictions in Brisbane, and we were made to wear face masks when we order food and drinks and walk around the hotel, but we could pull this out at our tables. We were very impressed by the way the staff took their Covid protocols seriously, especially when you enter the access to anyone who dared to enter without a face mask. We got a table outside overlooking Brunswick Street Mall, under a awning of elaborate design. Here we enjoyed not only the fresh air that was greeted in Covid times, but we could also enjoy our favorite employment while waiting for a meal – “People Watch” as Brisbane people passed us along the mall. We were impressed by the service of the hotel staff and we enjoyed a good conversation with the hotel manager who told us about the history of the place and the Fortitude Valley neighborhood and who was really interested in our visit being unforgettable. The Royal George Hotel, lovingly known as “The RG”, is a three-storey Puted-Masonry structure on the corner of Brunswick Street Mall and Ann Streets in what I consider to be the smarter end of Fortitude Valley. The corner of the building has an interesting bevelled edge. It is known that a hotel may already exist here in 1850. This hotel is the result of an extensive envelope in the 1960s. However, there still seem to be elements of the core of the building of about 1850 that have survived today. This hotel complex includes the adjacent Ruddle’s Building, built in 1901 by William Ruddle, whose family has been operating the Royal George Hotel for over 60 years. The building has a very elaborate veranda. Somehow, I'm leaving. The hotel offers better than your average “Pub grub” a local name to serve food in pubs public hotels) and bars. For the net, my wife chose her “Authentic Butter Chicken” with Jasmine rice, Papadums and Garlic Naan bread) and I chose the traditional 300 grams Rib Fillet Steak with garden salad, beer bestreuted chips and Dianne Sauce). Both of us enjoyed our decisions that were well presented and my steak came as ordered. I asked for “Medium-Rare” and that’s what I received. We have our lunch with a bottle of De Bortoli Willowglen Rosé 2019 – Delightful! We especially liked the way the wine was served at our table, with both the wine and the glasses being cooled together in the ice cup. The hotel has a wide range of alcoholic drinks served by an interesting "island-style bar". When reading some of the previous TripAdvisor reviews, we were surprised by the degree of negativity expressed by some reviewers about the place, especially when people come here for dinner or a drink at night. Of course, in our case we had a positive experience to report about our lunch here a day. Overall, we were positively impressed. Our time at this hotel for lunch was not rushed. In all, we were here for 75 minutes and we have the relaxed, casual atmosphere of eating out. We hope to visit again in the future."

"Popped in here for drinks with friends, the outdoor beer garden is very cool with graffiti murals lining the walls. Great music and very busy. Although we didn't eat here, the smell coming from the pizza kitchen outside was enough to make your mouth water."

"Surprisingly good food for a pub, beautiful outside area, not too safe about the amount that attracts the place. would eat an early and/or take a group to create their own atmosphere."
