"We went to this restaurant with some expectations. This brasserie is located in the most expensive hotel of Basel. We were welcomed very nicely and brought to a nice table with view on the river. The gentleman who took our order was great as well. So far so good. Aperitif was served after we did order our food. Bit strange. But they let us finish our glass before the first course came. Our young waitress which was clearly French and had apparently no good other language skills, was slow. We are here in the German part of Switzerland. And most customers around us were international guests. Service was very slow. We only heard complaints at neighbour tables as well. We chose cheese as a desert. This was a huge portion, which we both did not finish. The meal quality was fine, but not really special (I know this is a brasserie). To pay 500 CHF for 3 courses , wine and coffee and get this service is a disaster. We never experienced this in any other restaurant in Switzerland. You always pay quite some money for diner here, but we always say that in all restaurants the service is outstanding. I am sorry to say, but this was our first and last visit to this brasserie."

"Very handy for Basel SBB opposite. I left the station and was seated within a minute. Before my first course I was offered an amuse bouche which was black bread and salmon tartare. My first course was some of the best fish I've ever had cod ceviche with yellow beetroot, chilli, coriander radish. The cod was perfectly tender and the vegetables with it a perfect accompaniment. My main course wasn't Swiss Weiner Schnitzel with rosti. Again, perfectly cooked and the rosti was beautifully crispy. All in all an excellent experience!"

"Meine Freundin und ich haben uns diese Woche spontan entschieden, auf der Terrasse des Restaurant East West Hotel (vormals Hotel Hecht) an der kleinbasler Rheinpromenade etwas zu essen. Da es ein wunderschöner und auch heisser Sommertag war, entschieden wir uns für einen gemischten Salat mit Ei. Aber oh je, statt einem bunten Salatteller bekamen wir einen Teller gefüllt mit 'Grünfutter' oben drauf noch einen Berg Rucola und ganz obendrauf ein gekochtes Ei! Nachdem wir die riesengrossen Salatblätter etwas herumgeschoben hatten, entdeckten wir doch tatsächlich unter den grünen Blättern noch je einen Suppenlöffel gekochter Randen aus dem Beutel und Maiskörner aus der Büchse sowie 1!! Scheibe Tomate und dies zu einem Preis von Fr 19.00!IIm Sommer, wo es eine Vielfalt von frischem guten Gemüse und Salaten gibt, sollte es doch möglich sein, in einem Restaurant an dieser schönen Lage und zu diesem Preis einen bunten und schönen Salatteller zu bekommen."
