What Purple35 dislikes about The Forge:
I dined at this restaurant with my family in August and the food was excellent for all of us. However, the service was a bit slow. It appeared that they needed more staff as there were only two people handling the bar, all food orders, and attending to all the tables. It would have been better... View all feedback.

This pub was in an ideal spot for visiting Whitby with the bus stopping just outside the premises. The room was good and the staff all friendly and helpful. Sunday lunch was great and the pub was very busy for this. The pub itself wasn’t super busy outside meal times and the area is very quiet at night which suited us. Being able to visit Whitby itself without worrying about parking was a great bonus and for bus pass holders it was free to use the buses. I would highly recommend this establishment for a short break and maybe even a longer period if you want a quiet village to stay in.

I was firstly greeted by friendly staff my drink order was taken after a few minutes of getting settled and at the same time the two young polite guys behind the bar brought the special's and a menu . The menu all sounded amazing and to be honest I struggled to decide as it all sounded so good . We started with our starters king prawns in a green sauce “unfortunately I can’t remember the name of the sauce “ it was almost like a pesto basil sauce . Oh my goodness it was AMAZING. I was just gutted I was sharing it with my wife . As it was just sooo yummy . It was accompanied by garlic bread . perfect Next I had sea bass in garlic butter with prawns , spinach on crushed new potatoes. Let me tell you … if I could pick 1 meal to eat for the rest of my life and never get bored it would be this ! It was absolutely beautiful. Full of flavour not over powering with garlic just the right amount ! It was perfect ! The sea bass had crispy skin . It just fell of my fork it was so fresh ! My wife had the burger which she said was very very nice . The bacon was nice and crispy and the chips …. Well The chips these chips are the best homemade chips you will ever have ! Honestly they were to die for !!!! My daughter had fish and chips and the fish was so white , so fresh and it was the size of her arm it was huge ! Again accompanied by the best chips ever !!!! Deserts by the point I was stuffed but I couldn’t leave without a desert after the meals being 5 stars I had the brownie and I asked for it with toffee sauce . This brownie was chewy it was soft it gives Betty Crocker a run for her money and that toffee sauce I could of drank it out of the jug . My daughter had same and said it was so yummy My wife had the meringue stack . Which looked so good . My wife said it was just the right amount after 2 courses . Nothing was to much trouble for the bar staff or any staff that was around . Even the couple sitting next to us who was staying there was lovely and friendly I’d give this meal at 100 out of 100 in stars ! Honestly I couldn’t fault a single thing . I most definitely will be back thanks so much for having us and I truly can’t wait to return for more .

We called in as it is one of few places to eat out for dinner near Sleights. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. Service was also good despite them being quite busy. We arrived at around 6:30 and there were a couple of tables free. It did fill up but there were spaces by around 7:30 when the early birds had gone. We had duck breast which I asked for and came, pink, sea bass, sausage and mash and the Cajun chicken/halloumi burger. All were well cooked as were the vegetables although the burger was a bit dry. Prices were reasonable. We only found the place on our last night and wished we had found it earlier. Only downside could be that it’s a little small if you have a party of over 4. Would not hesitate to recommend if you are in the area

We found this beautiful pub after staying on holiday in Sleight’s for a week. Cannot fault the food, staff so welcoming. Our first meal was on the Sunday evening we were greeted by a very pleasant young man informed us what roast choice of meat they had left. When our roast beef arrived plent of it absolutely delicious plenty of vegetables Yorkshire pudding roast potatoes all piping hot . Dessert well we were spoilt for choice but had the boozey bread butter pudding lemon cheesecake all home made . We couldn’t find fault with anything so we booked to dine again on the Wednesday night before we left on Thursday . Once again greeted by 2 pleasant young men good choice of menu specials board. Had the steak mushroom pie, gammon eggs chips. All served with plenty of vegetables or salad was hot cooked to perfection. Dessert choice again spoilt for but had the sticky toffee pudding chocolate brownie all homemade. Shame we came home. Will be back again when in the area. Cannot find fault with this pub meal’s definitely recommend to anyone!!!! Delicious
