★ 4.2 / 5 from 24203 reviews

This restaurant has garnered mixed reviews from customers. Some have expressed disappointment with the limited vegetarian options and long wait times, while others praise the vegan dishes for being nutritious and delicious. The homemade drinks like ponche have also received positive remarks. Despite some shortcomings, the communal vibe, generous portions, and friendly service have left a lasting impression on many patrons.

The vegetarian combination is a good portion and super tasty. You can choose your type or beans and plantains. If you go you should also get the Ponche it’s their homemade limeade and mango iced tea mixed together.

Their Vegetariano plate is vegan, nutritious, and super delicious! We could (and do) eat it over and over and over again. Their veggie deluxe sandwich is pretty good too, but it contains cheese, so not for vegans.

Having an aversion to queues, we arrived 15 minutes before 9am to beat the weekend rush. The place easily filled up by the time we were having our dessert. The Sopa de Lentejas or lentil soup Spanish lentils, pumpkin, green plantain fresh cilantro was good. It came with a side of thin bread that we topped with avocado from the Vegetariano Combination plate. This combo plate had rice, black beans, greens and yes, avocado. It came with a side of savory and sweet plantains. I never really eat rice with just black beans, so I was surprised to find the beans packed with flavor that it actually worked with rice. The fried green plantain that is fried, smashed and fried again is called Tostones con Mojo. I wasn't a fan of this as the texture was too hard. Perhaps it was over fried? The sweet plantain or the Maduros was perfect. We also had the other Vegetariano plate, this time with the pink beans stewed with herbs and Spanish olives, french fries on the side. The beans was good too, and the fries were fresh. The Te Helado, or mango iced tea, had a light, fresh and subtle floral/fruity fragrance. I don't normally order sweet drinks because of the sugar, but I made this an exception. The concoction was perfectly balanced clean and crisp, not too sweet, and very refreshing to the palate. Not to be missed is the sole vegan dessert, the Tembleque. This unassuming creamy coconut pudding with mango sauce (or cinnamon) was a surprise hit. So glad I ordered this. You pay at the counter, get your number and sit down. Portions are generous. Dining and bathrooms are clean. I do have to say that albeit a little too loud, I appreciate that they play music that is consistent with the theme and the cuisine. Most establishments nowadays play anything so much so that you can be in any restaurant so it doesn't make the dining experience special.

Only to give two stars because there is always a long waiting period and they only have one veg bowl. it's black beans and rice with a side of plantains and an avocado. If you want that, it's really good, but not organic, and it's something I can make home. that said: before pandemic I used to roast the two hours long line and eat meat friends.
