Was ابان العنزي at La Spezia a mag?
Food might feel like it's just expensive but when your orders come out, you'll understand why. Serving size is big and perfect for sharing. Plating/presentation is beautiful - felt like the food itself was art that was framed perfectly. ???? All the dishes we ordered were delicious! What Hallie Reichert dislikes about La Spezia:
service was good and place was cozy, but eating was terrible. the oily truffle paste does not cost the price. steak was far too expensive for quality. we asked for medium-heavy good and served medium-heavy rare. the steak had 0 taste. total overrated restaurant. spend their money instead on test kitchen or mamou. The steak was a little overpriced (2500) but it tasted good. My friends really like their steak rare to medium rare so they loved it. The vongole pasta was good as well! We also enjoyed their burrata. Overall the food is good, rated them really high because of the really nice ambiance of the whole restaurant. Must go for people who love italian cuisine near quezon city :)

The waiters know exactly what is on the menu and were very attentive. The ambiance is just a plus!

We have been so anticipating to try the offerings of La Spezia as we heard from friends food was good. Finally found an opportunity to have lunch there 2 weekends ago. We were lucky that the parking area still has some vacant spots. Entering the restaurant, we were greeted by their staff and offered the table near the door which we thought was occupied by customers but later found out they were the owners. The place is small and could only occupy probably less than 20pax. We tried their Burrata, Risotto al Nero, Spaghetti Alle Vongole Veraci. The Burrata was interesting because of the beetroot but we have tried better versions. Both Risotto and Spaghetti were delicious. Perhaps we could have enjoyed our food more if the noise level was managed. We could practically here what the other table was talking about. What made things worse was that there was a customer who was babbling and laughing in full animation with his friend. The restroom was cute but not as clean as I expected. Over-all, we were not pleased with the experience not because of the food but because of the ambiance.

I've been several times to my "hidden gem" in Tomas Morato! Service: Probably the best I had in all Metro Manila. The two owners are constantly in the restaurant, one in the kitchen, one in the front of the house. That shows a lot, so many restaurant don't take service seriously, service in La Spezia is at the center of everything. Keep it up ! Food: Really hard to describe, I would say there is a mix between classics of Italian gastronomy, a bit of fusion, a bit of unexpected things. I couldn't highlight one dish in particular since quality and taste are constantly at a high level. Servings are generous, dishes are simple. Ambiance: Love it. Really feel at home, once again it's simple but there is no mistake. Wines: Surprisingly good selection. They broke the rules by proposing mostly french wines which is really not expected in an italian inspired restaurant. But this is really wise. From their cheapest reds to their mid/high level you're not ripped off. Special mention for their St.Emilion references (they have several, from pure St.Emilion to Lussac, Montagne, Grand Cru). These are basically not my favourite wines but this selection offers very interesting and accurate pairings. Prices: Good value for price, never felt ripped off. And wine prices are totally reasonable. One of the only restaurant that has my 5 important points at a high level : Service, Food, Ambiance, Wines and Prices. See you very soon there !
