Really helpful. We took our son, who is in a stroller for six months, and the staff was very acceptable with access and the table we had reserved. Thank you. Eating is good. View all feedback.
What RivieraRachel doesn't like about Cafe Rouge Portsmouth:
Visited in August whilst waiting for ferry to France. Glasses for water were dirty (finger marks and traces of food), toasted cheese sandwich was not toasted just damp, 2 members of counter staff were rude to the point of insulting. No tables were being cleared on the terrace the waterfront so customers were clearing food themselves. Toilets had not been cleaned since previous evening (it was 2pm) according to sheet... Visited 18.11.23 am for coffee and something to eat Requested a cheese omelette which the chef agreed to make after advising me it’s too early for omelettes as this is classed as lunch item) Husband requested a prawn baguette but not too early to have as breakfast item) Omelette was unfortunately dreadful! The actual omelette was like thin rubber but the cheese was almost an inch thick, I could not finish it They did not have any prawns so my husband settled for a chicken and mayonnaise baguette . The baguette was just a mayonnaise baguette with a few small chunks of chicken so he left half of it. We were so disappointed as this as always been a wonderful cafe. Total waste of £26.00
We chose breakfast here as we'd read some good reviews, and the weather was nice so we wanted a view across the water. When you go in it's not the most welcoming of places, the young lad on the till was absolutely devoid of any personality, which came off as really rude. The young lady who made the coffee was polite, as was the lad who brought the breakfast out. We sat by the window for the view, but quickly realised this was quite a cold place to sit! Breakfast was nice, but wasn't very warm which was a shame. The vegetarian sausages were some of the best I've had, so that was a bonus! All in all a disappointing visit though.
Returned to the cafe after some time away to find it’s not improved. Staff wearing their masks as chinstraps. Breakfast delivered minus cutlery, had to ask. Also had to ask for butter for toast. No napkins provided. Really disappointing. There are better options at Gunwharf.
Went for breakfast before going up the tower. We both had the little breakfast, the food was hot, tasty and arrived in good time. Also had cappucinos after tower visit which were good. Cafe was busy and the lunchtime food also looked good.
We visited for a drink to take a break from shopping. It is self service. Not sure if it is just because of the restrictions or if it is all the time. Staff were friendly. We have a lovely table with a fantastic view. A great place to have a drink and chill. Will definitely return.
