I have been here probably 20 times. Great sushi for a decent price. The only downside is that sometimes I get bad service. It depends on who you're dining with. Multiple times when I have gone with my younger sister, we have not received some...More View all feedback.
What User dislikes about Kakemono Sushi Bar & Restaurant:
We have avoided this place for years and we thought of giving it another chance since it is close to our place (we usually drive to Tatemono in Whitby), all those years the service has not changed. It started good -- till the manager started telling us last call to order 1 hour prior to their closing, we have only been sitted 15 minutes at that point. Then at 9:27 the manager came asking if the bill will be in one? c... View all feedback.
Fresh fantastc value for money sushi, like the tablet order system, very efficient.
We have noticed the food quality has declined since they first opened. While the all you can eat for one price is fantastic what we received was low quality, fatty stringy meat, very oily portions that were cooked in a strange tasting oil. If we didn't know how to use the pad to order, as a newcomer we wouldn't have known how to order as it wasn't explained to us nor were we asked if we knew how to order. The service was good and our table was cleared quickly and drinks were often refilled. Obtaining the bill took a while and we had to request it more than once despite restaurant not being overly busy. Would I eat here again for $23/person, probably not. Unimpressed by the food quality.
This was our first visit. It is either all you/can eat for a flat price or menu service. No one explained the service to us just sat us and dropped an iPad on the table. We had to ask for an explanation on how to order. The wait staffs English was very poor we couldn’t understand what any of them said. We asked how much the all you can eat is and they said $30 per person. I didn’t order it for myself or my son, because we don’t like sushi and wanted to order a la carte. My husband and daughter had all you can eat. I wanted to get some rice and chicken balls for my son. They don’t have a kids menu. So, the only way I could get that for my son who is 9 years old was to order a full order of rice and a full order of chicken balls for $12 each. So, his meal was $24 plus a drink with no free refills and he couldn’t even dent it. Then we found out later when getting the bill that for a 9 year old kid the all you can eat is $13 with free drink refills! Why wouldn’t they have told us that when ordering? He could have had a sampling of chicken balls and rice and whatever else for half the price. I ordered the pad Thai and it was only okay. My husband who is a sushi lover said it wasn’t great. It was a huge bill for mediocre food and crappy service. Will not go back.
Very nice, loved eating and recommended 10/10 for everyone who loves sushi!
We went to valentines and they were not prepared for the amount. we had 6:30 reservations and waited for a half hour to place. they didn't have enough server. the food took forever to come out, and when it was finally ice cold. I mentioned this on the server that immediately ignored me. then the next court came out. garnel cocosnus that were still frozen in the middle. we're up and down, they could take care of less. we will never come back
