We were wandering the Promenade looking for a nice but not outrageously expensive meal.

Very good location but the dinner experience was poor. The waitress seemed to have forgotten the food we ordered and brought us something else or forgot the specific instructions we had for our food. Place charges top money but would be much better if the waiters could just write down the orders and not rely on the memory.

We lived in Nice for a year between 2008 and 2009 and so we know the city very well. This restaurant is very different from the more tourist oriented places in the Cours Saleya. It is part of the Hotel West End right on the Promenade des Anglais and has a slightly oldy worldy feel which we found charming. Our waitress was great. Very welcoming and very obliging. We were inside but right next to the front window. At the table immediately outside, a few feet from where I was sitting there was a young woman, on her own, who was frantically attacking her smart phone in that way that young people do. I could see that she would be there for ages and I knew it would disturb me even though I could not hear her. I mentioned it to the waitress who understood right away and discreetly moved us to another table. Our food was very good; we both had daurade, a popular local fish. It was good though I would say a little bit overcooked. For pudding I had crepe suzette which was prepared and flambeed with great gusto next to us. It was excellent though I kind of wish I had not seen how much sugar went into making it. All in all a very good experience though surprisingly the music was modern soul/pop and I thought some Edith Piaf or Juliette Greco would have been far more in keeping with the general ambience of the place.
