Swagat, located at 411A Amsterdam Avenue, offers a charming and intimate dining experience with some of the best Indian food in the city. The restaurant boasts delicious dishes like lamb vindaloo and authentic Indian cuisine made from scratch. The service is excellent, and the atmosphere is cozy and welcoming. While some other Indian restaurants in the area may be disappointing, Swagat stands out for its fine food and professional service. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or simply craving some delicious Indian cuisine, Swagat is a must-visit spot that won't disappoint.

I visited Swagat in July 2023 for dinner and opted to dine outside. While the staff could have been more friendly as they seemed a bit impatient and put pressure on us when ordering, the food was delicious and reasonably priced for the area. We ordered SAMOSA CHAAT, LAB PASANDA, GARLIC NAAN, and MANGO LASSI for two, which was just the right amount. I would recommend Swagat to anyone in the area looking for tasty Indian cuisine.

My friends and I visited Swagat during our weekend trip to New York City to catch a show at the Beacon Theater. The restaurant is conveniently located nearby and we were impressed by the food and service. It was clear that they also have a busy takeout business, as delivery drivers were constantly in and out. The Vindaloo we ordered was excellent, but the standout for us was the naan bread - it was absolutely delicious. Overall, we highly recommend Swagat as a must-try spot.

Even though our server was attentive and the curved chairs were comfortable, we have decided not to return to Swagat in the future.

Awesome place! Delicious food and nice service. Small seating space but they were able to accommodate us (group of 5). They have great lunch/brunch specials. We had chicken korma, butter chicken, papadam, and samosa chat. The samosa chat was absolutely delicious! So was the korma. Wish we lived locally, but we were just visiting for the week!

While we had planned to eat at another popular Indian restaurant next door to Swagat, we ended up at the smaller/less crowded Swagat. I must say it was the best Indian food I have ever eaten and the setting and atmosphere was so charming. It's a delightfully small restaurant, beautiful setting and kind and polite servers. The food comes out delivered by one of the chefs. It was delicious and delightful. Make sure you get to Swagat and note the address: It's 411A Amsterdam Avenue.
