man this place is a diamond in the rough his out in a shopping center in the last room and it does not do justice. it should be outside in the front so that everyone can see and experience so brilliantly! absolutely wonderful place to visit. View all feedback.
What User dislikes about Sassafras:
Ordered oyster and fish and gumbo. Got oyster and shrimp. Fried shrimp was alright , too much batter. Oyster was better. Gumbo was definitely not worth 6.50$ a cup. Barely any flavor. All in all food wasn't spectacular. Gumbo was a let down. My order was messed up, they forgot to give me the cup of gumbo I've ordered. It was nice of them to take the time to deliver it (was 5 minutes away). View all feedback.
I used to love this place mainly for the fried seafood. This last go around was TERRIBLE. It was Sunday Brunch, I had family in town, and I decided to bring them to Sassafras. Terrible decision. Look yall, we are easy, far from the table of girls that sat with y’all for an hour then left without paying because of terrible service. The worst thing to do is leave your customer in the dark. We waited 2 hours for our food! They ran out of dishes!!! Never heard of that. Food was COLD because they wanted to wait for everybodies food to be finished....lastly, for now, the seafood was not good. Nothing like I remembered it. Please do better. But it doesn’t matter for me because I will not be back. Oh no I have more, they don’t take the online reservations from this very site. So Shout out to the hostess with her busy self because she honored it but still this was overall more drama than that poor woman could handle on her own. Please don’t hire high school children that can’t handle large tables especially when we start having questions like where are my drinks/food? Basic stuff! And the nerve of y’all to not have alcoholic beverages to ease our worries! I have more to say the more I type this but I’m tired now so ima save it another review page. Bye Sassafras!
Terrible. I made a reservation on Open Table over a week or maybe even two in advance. Chose it because it had great reviews for food! But when we got there, there was no one at the hostess stand. There were 8 people standing around who had come in before us, had not been helped yet. Phone at hostess’s stand was ringing off the hook. Finally after standing there 10 minutes and older lady came up and started asking to help people. She told them it would be 30 mins to be seated. The place wasn’t that full...so they must be understaffed....then I told herI had made a reservation a week ago and the lady didn’t even know what Open Table was, said she didn’t know anything about reservations and that it would be over 30 minutes wait. We were trying to get to an event at a certain time, so we couldn’t wait that long. At the rate that was going, we probably would have been there at least two hours or more depending on how long it took the food to come out. So it was very disappointing Since we were looking forward to trying the food. Online it had great reviews for food but poor reviews for service and food wait time. I can see that now. Unfortunately, we probably won’t ever go back there to even try it. The other people waiting all left too.
Restuarant had no note that I had made a reservation online. They seemed confused when I told them that. It still took over an hour to be seated because of the crowd but I kept getting told that I would be the next seated and people with no reservation still got seated ahead of me. The food was amazing though.

I see that now. Unfortunately, we will probably never go back there to even try. the others are waiting.
Friendly service. Perfectly fried seafood. A great price.
