What Katalin Péter doesn't like about Tasty Chinese Restaurant:
eating was very easy. no taste. I wouldn't eat here again. service was very friendly. I have nothing to say anymore, but it won't let me post until I have said more. View all feedback.

I ordered chicken-chow my, rice and fried garnel. the chow my and reis was poor, but looked good in comparison to the fried garnels. the small garnels were baked and fried until they were hard like a rock. my wife had the egg roll and sweet and sour pig. she said they were good.
Had dinner here. Ordered from the Chinese menu. Portions were exceedingly large. However, the special fried rice had an overpowering garlic taste and the egg foo young was tasteless and soggy. The egg rolls were okay. The beer selection ran to Coors Light and Budweiser....Expensive and poor value. Pass it bye ... the Subway in town would probably be of better value.
Ah, Tasty Chinese Restaurant! I’d been wanting to try this place ever since I noticed it while passing through New Hazelton last year, and I finally got the opportunity to do so a year later! Admittedly, this is one of those places where it’s purely...the name that has captured my attention. I knew going in that it was probably just going to be your typical Westernized Chinese cuisine – and I was right. In that regard, it met my expectations and I didn’t leave feeling cheated. The food, while not great, wasn’t offensive, either – it was just average (which, in the restaurant business isn’t really a good thing, but when options are limited as they are in this town then I guess it doesn’t matter much). Now let’s talk a little bit more about Tasty Chinese Restaurant. The restaurant is housed in an older building and has been serving the community for many a year. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by the friendly hostess/server and told to sit wherever I’d like (the restaurant was completely empty at the time). One thing that struck me? The general look and layout of the interiors totally brought me back to my childhood. When I was growing up, the family and I would routinely visit a Chinese restaurant that looked very similar to this one, at least as far as décor and such goes. So, the interiors are a nice throwback and lend themselves to make the space somewhat cozy. Sure, some might find the fake flower vases a bit tacky, but I think it lends to the yesteryear charm. As well, I love that this place has the old Chinese zodiac table mats laid out – awesome! As for the food it was, as I said, non-offensive. I ordered a spring roll to start. It was okay in that it wasn’t swimming in grease as these things usually are, but it was also very dry. I also ordered the Kong boo shrimp, which is advertised as being kind of sweet and spicy. This dish definitely wins points for presentation, but that’s where it stops because the batter covering the shrimp made them pretty solid and not overly enjoyable. There’s potential here, but then, everything theoretically has potential. Finally, I also tried the House Special chow mein. It featured a good mix of chicken, pork, veggies and shrimp. This was easily the best dish I tried. The chicken and vegetables provided nice contrasts in texture and added flavour to the noodles. I also appreciated how my plate of chow mein, while still a big portion, wasn’t a massive platter like it is in most other Westernized Chinese places; in short, I was actually able to finish it. The server was very attentive throughout as well. FOOD: 2.75/5 SERVICE: 4/5 VALUE: 3/5 RECOMMENDATION: There aren’t a lot of options in the Hazeltons. With the closure of Rob’s Restaurant earlier this year the town was left with a massive void to fill. Is Tasty Chinese Restaurant able to fill such a void? No, but it’s an okay option if you find yourself in town. I mean, while the name is “Tasty,” it’s not quite there . . . Very good service, but average food at best. Mild recommendation.
We ordered Chinese food and it was a huge mistake! The chow mein and chicken fried rice did not look like any I have ever had (discolored rice and small vermicelli looking chow mein lacking of any veggies, egg or meat). Instead of adding chicken...to the dishes, a small sprinkling of maybe a wing sized boiled chicken were sprinkled on top of both dishes. The beef and vegetable dish was loaded with large pieces of broccoli and cauliflower and again minced pieces of the fatty part of beef added on top for show. Worst food ever. Next I pass through town, I'll be sure to get something at the grocery store instead.
