Was User at Le Gaulois French Restaurant a mag?
Party of six for Family event . . Great service for half full restaurant, had full range of main meals and deserts - all great quality for mid-range pricing. We will go back. View all feedback.

What User dislikes about Le Gaulois French Restaurant:
Majority of our food was nice. The service was courteous and the ambience is special and cozy in the area. However the receipt we received was not eligible for VIC dining program claim as its not printed. I have contacted resturant and told was there is no printed receipt.Be aware if you want to dine for the rebate. View all feedback.

Traditional French cuisine. rich and delishimo. small, friendly. Accessibility: the toilets are over stairs. my wife was on a crack. she couldn't go. my only handle. it is an old two-storey building

Great service and food. Don’t know what I was expecting but it wasn’t this!

It's hard to find a truly romantic restaurant in suburbia. The deep red tones, subdued lighting, old French music, great wine selection/bar and warm friendly service gives La Gaulois an extra point in my review. The mains need work to reinvigorate them (leave that tired salad off). I loved the bookends of my meal, soup and delectable garlic bread with bread so fresh and buttery it melted like a wafer in my mouth. Dessert was profiteroles. These were unbelievable, again so fresh and filled with a Cointreau cream and absolutely smothered in hot dark chocolate sauce. My suggestion to the chef is that if baking is your thing please change your menu. Soufflé ? Beef bourguignon? Seafood mornay pie ? Go with your strength because we love the service and atmosphere in this restaurant and we'd love to see it get improved ratings. We will be back, but hoping for some menu changes.

Looking for an intimate place to celebrate an anniversary, suddenly this little suburban came to mind. We were very impressed by the service, the venue and the menu.Entree? Not a big fan of pate but the Duck Pate was absolutely delightful. Coquilles Saint Jacques delicate and delightful and not too rich.Mains were even greater surprise, Entre Cote au Pouvre and Veau a la Normandie almost projected us to some provincial little french cafe. Steak was cooked perfectly as ordered, medium rare with a great pepper sauce. Veal was not overcooked as each mouthful looked forward to the next in a sauce that can be only described as heavenly. We opted for wines by the glass to see if we can match to each of our dishes. The House wines were from France and enhanced the food remarkably. Yes, I did ask to see the labels. They were Champagne(Coquilles), Rhone (pate), Rhone (steak), Merlot (veal).Enough said! If you want good French and not too heavy on the pocket, then Le Gaulois is the place. And it's in the suburbs!
