What Sara Kim Jacques dislikes about Sucrerie à L'eau D'Érable:
I am obliged to give 1 star because Google does not allow you to give 0. Offering two mediocre squares of cretons for 15 people with bread as a starter is too little. Of course we asked for more, but after the 5th time, it gets annoying. Fast service, but 0 for courtesy. Several people in our group felt that the all you can eat was more at the will of the host and not the customer. Owner or employee I can 't say, but... View all feedback.

Terrible experience at Sucrerie à l'eau d'érable._We made reservations for Saturday night and when we got there, they couldn't find our reservations.

As you see by my previous review, this place has lost a rating point. I was there last Saturday March 25th with my wife, son, grand-daughter and mother-in-law. The place is still nice and relatively small. The food, as usual, was varied and very good, the staff always as friendly and helpful. The only negative point of this visit was the maple syrup on snow after the meal in the old sugar shack. Usually, you have a rack with snow upon which the syrup is ladled out. The syrup then freezes a bit and, with a popsicle stick, you roll it on the syrup. Excellent. Last Saturday, the attendant said they had a problem with the snow machine so they had to put cracked ice instead of snow. The result was disastrous: you had a stick with more ice than syrup. There is a tractor ride for $ 2,00 per person that takes you into the field where the maple trees are and comes back to the shack. Nice ride for the kids.

My wife and I heard of these places and wanted to see what the craze was all about. We left feeling happy and full and more quintessentially Canadian than ever before.Menu: the menu is a fixed menu with multiple courses and dessert options. Price: $36 for two adults (Monday-Thursday, taxes in). Customer service: the servers were very friendly and prompt to bring our food. Although we spoke little French and they spoke little English, we managed fine and didn't get the sense that we were an inconvenience if we needed something rephrased in order to understand.Food: we enjoyed the food, from the pea soup to the maple baked beans and the maple pie. The omelet was very light (fluffy) and was garnished with slices of ham. Dessert was a choice of crepe, Maple pie, and a cake of some sort, but we tried the pie because it seemed the most appetizing. The pie was an excellent choice and very sweet. After the meal, you can get fresh maple taffy in the evaporator house (behind the restaurant). Tips: call ahead and make a reservation to ensure you're served quickly. We came without one on a weekday and were seated within 15 minutes of arrival. Once you're seated, allow yourself about 1.5 hours to eat so you get all the courses in. Why come here when it's further out of the city? We choose this one because it sounded less commercial and afforded us a chance to get out of Montréal for the day.
