This place in a hidden gem in Ryedale. Fantastic service and food we have been coming back for a few years now and hope to in the future.

"5* simply because I can’t leave 10! Dropped in here in desperation today Easter Saturday) after travelling around to a couple of places and not being able to get a table. Thought we were off to the Chinese in Pickering when we stopped her and asked if dogs were allowed in? Yes we were told and then did they have a table for 2? Despite being full and tables reserved they found us one, we had to wait a bit to have our order taken but they did get us drinks straight away while we waited for them to deal with the party of 8 that came in just before us. When they did take out order I went for the sirloin steak and my wife the lasagna. This was finished with apple crumble custard and hot choc fudge cake custard. We can honestly say it all was cooked to perfection. The steak I haven’t had so good in a long time even when I’ve cooked it) and the wife’s lasagna was spot on too. Puddings tasted perfect too. Lovely, small, but reasonable quite pub considering it was full. Staff were outstanding, friendly, helpful and polite apologising for our wait which considering we dropped in on the off chance was our fault not theirs. The landlord was great. Joking and making us feel at home and actually wanted. As others have said, every pub needs a landlord like this. Our only regret was it was our last night that we popped in even though over the years we’ve driven past it so many times. If you want a well cooked meal at a nice quiet county pub with good service and polite staff you don’t need to look any further. We will definitely be back here when in the area. Thank you so much to all the staff."

"Well what a lovely stay we had, checked into the White Horse after visiting York, we were given the warmest welcome by John and Dawn. After we were settled into our lovely room Rose room) which was really comfortable and cosy, especially the super...king bed, we wondered down to the bar and restaurant for an evening meal. Again we were greeted by the friendly hosts and even the regulars made us feel welcome. Food was not a disappointment either yummy). Amazing nights sleep followed and then a great breakfast. Thanks again John and Dawn could not fault a thing."

"It was clear to us that the new owners are making significant improvements. The food was great, both the starters and main courses were delicious. The young lad who served us was brilliant, such a positive attitude. The new owner also made an effort to welcome us and was clearly keen that everyone was well looked after which was a nice touch. Looking forward to our next visit."

"This is my favourite place to eat in Malton, I a friend regularly have takeaway drinks lunches, mainly either, soup, sandwiches, wraps, paninis or salads. All are freshly made delicious very reasonably priced. Malton has a wide variety of cafes coffee shopsto chose from but the stand out feature that draws us back to the Patisserie is not only high quality food but the friendly, efficient staff who always make us feel so welcome. Although less often, we occaisionally sit in in the cafe which provides the same first class service products. There is also a well stocked shop with a wide variety of lovely biscuits, cakes, preserves drinks which can be made into hampers. The delights of this little Malton gem are too numerous to mention."

"The pub serves an excellent choice of beers and is very fortunate to have very attentive, polite and friendly staff. The food was fine. Sadly the room number 1 is along side the main road and traffic noise is horrendous from early morning. The window in the room needs something to shut the noise out, perhaps secondary double glazing, which might help. Finally the radiator thermostat was damaged, causing the room to become unbearably hot. Not a good night's sleep. If these problems were sorted, it would have been a happy stay over. Don't get me wrong, it really is a lovely pub."
