Contribute FeedbackLocated in the popular tourist destination of Lunenburg, this fish shack offers stunning views of the harbor. While the food has received mixed reviews, with some diners praising the freshly made dishes and large portions, others found it to be overpriced and mediocre. From deep-fried scallops to haddock chowder, the menu offers a selection of seafood options, as well as non-fish alternatives like burgers. The atmosphere is laid-back and casual, with indoor and outdoor seating available. The counter-service setup allows for quick ordering, with prices ranging from CA$15 for fish fillets and chips to CA$80-90 per person for a meal.
At 11:30 a.m. we were looking for a place to have lunch at Lunenberg. Most of the restaurants open at twelve noon, luckily we found the Fish Shack. We ordered Haddock Chowder, Lobster Bun with Hand Cut Fries, Steamed Lobster served with coleslaw, lemon butter, potato salad and half a cob of corn. Lobster was really fresh, steamed perfectly and tasted so good. The chowder and lobster bun tasted alright. There's a good view of the dock in indoor seating though one has to go downstairs and bring the food ordered and paid for in the counter. They also have a patio for outdoor seating. The fresh lobster is priced by the pound so expect to pay more depending on its weight/size.
We stopped by The South Shore Fish Shack for a late lunch early dinner during our visit to Lunenburg. It was a little busy but, we were seated right away. The weather wasn’t great but, we still enjoyed sitting outside. We had a few beers and ordered their LOBSTER BUN, FISH CHIPS and DIGBY CLAMS. The portions were massive and the food was very fresh and tasty.
Great service, fantastic views of the harbour, tasty reasonably priced food. Scallop pasta was tasty, half tower is cold seafood of yummy oysters and clams, good lobster and snow crab.
This place was great I mean, depends on what you're looking for, saw a few reviews of people disappointed by the burger or the fact that deep fried fish is greasy, but if you want good, reasonably priced seafood, served fresh with nice staff, easy seating and a nice view, go here. Between our group had the fish and chips, scallops and lobster bun and they were all great. It's like fresh take out with a nice place to sit I'd go back, and definitely recommend.
Overall was really good, service was quick besides it being a hot summer day. the food was fresh, took the lobster buns which had a generous amount of lobster inside as well as the fish sticks, where one was MORE than enough (actual size of a fish). the staff was super sweet as well making the whole experience worthwhile. As well as the environment being clean with a staff working cleaning the tables very quickly and efficiently as people left.
