Feedback

★ 4.5 / 5 from 7725 reviews

Plant Matter Kitchen in London offers a mixed dining experience, with some patrons praising the delicious vegan options and fantastic service, while others express disappointment in portion sizes, flavors, and quality. Dishes like the Caesar salad and grilled cheese with brie, fig jam, walnuts, and apples receive high praise, while others like the pizza and calzone fall short of expectations. Prices, hit-and-miss menu options, and lack of accommodation for unsatisfactory meals are also highlighted in reviews. Despite some negative feedback, the restaurant’s commitment to vegan and gluten-free options, as well as clean facilities and welcoming atmosphere, leave room for improvement and future visits.

Neither one of us is vegan or vegetarian. Having heard a lot about this place from friends, we thought we'd give it a try. The main dishes were pretty good. I thoroughly enjoyed the taquitos with smoked tofu and beans (3 pieces and quite filling) and it came with a dipping sauce that is tomato based. It also came with a small Caesar salad. My partner had the seared tofu bowl and he had his with brown soba noodles instead of rice. He found that the most flavourful item was the tofu pieces (they described them as steaks but they're not really, just very thinly sliced pieces of tofu). There were cauliflowers and spinach leaves in the bowl plus the noodles. It's more like a salad bowl because the noodles are a bit over cooked and only room temperature. We ordered the peach crumble with cashew ice cream (all vegan so not really diary based). My partner found the crumble too sweet (overwhelmed the fresh peach pieces) and since I have to watch my sugar level, we left half of it uneaten. So that was a bit disappointing (for $9.50). I also enjoyed a Booch on tap called holy basil (not sure if it was wholly or holy). This was my first kamboucha and I found it quite enjoyable. I liked the diversity of the menu so we will try something different on another visit.

I can not wait to return. I am not vegan but I went with my daughter who is. This was one of the best meals I have had. Everything was delicious. Staff was busy but very friendly and informative. I strongly recommended this restaurant to anyone.

We were a group of three celebrating a birthday and we had a fantastic experience! Two of us had never been to Plant Matter Kitchen before and we were really looking forward to trying it. The food was delicious and the service was excellent! Our server Rich was very accommodating, personable, and definitely made the experience! Will definitely come again :)

I'm a vegan food fanatic and was so looking forward to trying out London's "best" vegan fare. Unfortunately we were sorely disappointed. My pizza was so laden with oil from the pesto that the crust was soggy and you could literally wring it out. It was to be served on flatbread but was on a very thin tortilla-like bread. The flavour was ok toward the edge with less oil/sauce but the pizza was basically inedible. The mac was not bad, ok flavour, but left a really dry feeling in the mouth. We tried their bean soup which was very smoky and spicey, overwhelming spice and smoke. The crustini it was served with was very dry and bland, it would not absorb soup and soften. My husband had the calzone and although the filling was fine the breading around it was terrible. Bland, too soft/undercooked. We make vegan calzone at home all the time and this was sub-par at best. The ceasar salad was very good, it was all of our favourites from the visit. It's disappointing that the salad was the highlight of our meal. Our waitress was nice but not accommodating when we voiced our dislike of certain elements. I was offered to order something different, but would not be compensated. I hate when my reviews are negative. Next time we are in town I'll come again by myself and try once more. But until I have a good experience, I can not recommend this restaurant.

My daughters took me for brunch at Plant Matter not knowing that it was a vegan restaurant. It was my first vegan-only restaurant and we all enjoyed what we ate. There are creative ways of doing all kinds of food and that was on display here. The owner kept walking past me with doughnuts so I splurged and one for dessert ... yummy. I'll return!!
