What Callum S dislikes about Canoe Paddle:
Usually I think people who complain about slow service are entitled crybabies. But with this place at maybe 1/3 capacity, the staff in there were fully in the weeds and did not seem to know how to work in a restaurant. No task management skills, jumping from one thing to the next but not able to actually complete anything... Just generally kind of nuts. Im not/wasn't even angry it was just such a bizarre thing to exp... View all feedback.

Great local beer list. The service was great, very friendly. The food was just average, with not many vegetarian options.

The whole family enjoyed our dinner on the patio at Canoe and Paddle. The kids enjoyed the burgers and chicken fingers. The kids meals come with optional take out ice cream from the scoop shop next door - 30 flavours to choose from! Grandparents enjoyed their fish and chips and the parents enjoyed the cider and beer selection. Overall, worth a visit - keep in mind it's a popular place so if planning to visit on a Friday evening or weekend, before 6pm would be best.

This is by far the noisiest restaurant for its size I have been in. My wife and I recently moved to lakefield and we have been trying local restaurants. I would cross this one off my list. We were promptly greeted and seated. The waitress came and asked for drink orders, which we made, and they were delivered promptly. We ordered food, My wife had banger's and hash and I ordered fish and chips. Then the waiting began. We sat and sat, while locals entered the restaurant apparently for the trivia contest, people around us moved to other tables, their food came, they ate and they left, We sat for 55 minutes without the waitress even asking us if we wanted another drink. We were at the verge of leaving when suddenly the food arrived. Reasonable sized portions, heavy on the grease and Fish was seriously overcooked. I asked for another beer and we proceeded to eat, after about 15 minutes my wife observed the waitress walk close by and said to me, she just realized she never put in the order for your beer, and sure enough within a few moments the beer finally arrived. We finished eating and sat again and again, for about 20 minutes while the shorter blonde waitress buzzed back and forth serving other customers but never looking at us. Finally my wife got her attention and asked for the bill, which came fairly quickly. I decided to pay in cash and left a 1.50 tip on a 43 dollar order, which was over-tipping based on the service we got. We won't be back, and I urge others to try the several different restaurants in town rather than this one. I grew up in Town, and know at one time it was a great place, but not anymore.

We went from Buckhorn by boat to Lakefield by boat and went through three locks. At the lakefield lock we went across the bridge and found the Canoe and Paddle pub restaurant 5 minutes from the lock.We were a group of 10. We ordered a pub lunch and no one in party were disappointed with their meal, the meals were all excellent. The servers were friendly and helpful in setting us up with a booth with a couple tables added. My daughter who required gluten and dairy free menu was equally impressed with her food. They even had gluten free beer for her. Adjacent to the pub was a bakery and ice cream parlor. We were too full to be able to try the bakery or have ice cream. If you are in the Lakefield area give this pub a try you won't be dissappointed.I highly recommend it.

I met a buddy there for an early dinner. I had heard about this place from some friends and most times it doesn't live up to expectations. The Canoe and Paddle did that and then some. Great food came out of there kitchen. The place was very well professionally staffed. The only complaint I have is there wasn't that many daily specials to choose from. Only one to be exact. I eat a lot of the chef's specialty dishes and like to see at least 3 different choices. I will be returning.
