Avalon Restaurant - Katoomba

The old movie theatre with quirky antiques and retro furniture and decor make for great ambiente, but the selling point is a lot to eat. one of the best meals I had in a long time. try the sweetness cheesecake!

Excellent food and great service. it was so good that we returned for a second evening on our short stay in katoomba! very recommended.

The last reviews of the restaurant were a bit mixed, but as we were in the city on a Monday evening, there were not many possibilities for what we wanted. we have booked a table online and when we were greeted with a very friendly female...Staff member. while the decor is quirky, we loved it! eating was great and service excellent. the woman had the barra and I had the slowly cooked lamb. when the dinner was finished, we spent some time to walk around 2 of the 3 flats admire the very strange collection of antiques and memories.

When we went to the Avalon I was expecting a lot more. The whole vibe of the restaurant is really creepy and there are like manikins in the chairs and stuff and it was werid but kinda cosy at the same time. All the food,...even the entree, were really expense for what it was including the drinks. The food was totally not worth the money and I was very disappointed. Will not be back

Food was bland and the cheesecake down right bad. The two stars are for the unique, artistic and fun loving decoration and the friendly and efficient staff. Too bad that the standard of the chef isn’t higher, because the place itself shows definite promise
