Stillwater Inn - Jefferson

Went last week. Food was okay at best. Way over priced. Meal was $120 with entree and two drinks.

Maybe it was an aberration, but our visit was a major disappointment. From the waitress telling us the wrong side dish to non-creamy creamed spinach to duck ordered medium rare and delivered medium well, the entire experience left a bad taste in our mouths. If you aspire to fine cuisine and charge accordingly, you should deliver. I feel like they were trying to be something that they are not. I would not go back.

If you live in east Texas or are there on a visit, a trip to historic Jefferson can be a great day or weekend. The Stillwater Inn is a wonderful bed and breakfast but more important, it is a great restaurant. Wonderful food and service. The house is beautiful. Your significant other will be very happy with your selection due to the ambiance, food and service. The owner is the chef and he is very good. The hostess is the owner and she is very friendly and will gladly tell you the history of the inn that they have owned now for 32 years.

We stumbled a few years ago during our annual trip to east texas over the stillwater inn. Since then we've been back every year. the personal is friendly. it's a favorite place. I just wish we had made it to east texas more often.

Last week. eating was good, too expensive. the meal was with two drinks.
