Restaurant Orsay - Jacksonville

My husband and I had a great meal and really enjoyed it! The service was excellent and they were very accommodating to my Vegan requests. I highly recommend this restaurant.

When it comes to their vegan options, proceed with caution at this restaurant. The vegan menu consists of mostly vegetarian dishes with a few items labeled as "can be made vegan." Even the shepherd's pie, when made vegan, turned out to be just a pricey plate of grilled vegetables. It was quite disappointing. Despite trying to maintain an upscale image, it seems like they lack a chef who can create vegan mashed potatoes. As for dessert, the only options available are sorbets.

We were excited to try Orsay for the first time, as the vegan options sounded wonderful. Our server was helpful and knowledgeable, and the atmosphere was very pleasant. There is a good-sized cocktail menu and a lengthy wine list. The entree options didn't entice us as much as the appetizers, so we got an assortment of those instead. The mushroom flatbread and tomato tartare were both excellent, as was the soup du jour of curried potato. The seared tofu scallops were bland and disappointing. The tofu didn't seem to be seasoned at all, in stark contrast to the other tasty offerings. Even some salt and lemon juice would have taken it up several notches, and the addition of some seaweed would have given it ocean flavor. Dessert options were limited, but we tried two of the three offered and enjoyed both: chocolate-covered strawberries and chili-lime sorbet. The service was top-notch; we will definitely go again, though maybe not for a while since we tried most of the items that interested us.
