I visited on a Thursday evening when the restaurant wasn’t crowded. We received prompt service and our server was delightful, offering helpful beer recommendations. The food was excellent, and the portions were generous enough that we could take some home. We ordered dessert to-go, which we look forward to enjoying tomorrow. The French onion soup was wonderful. My husband and I are doing a cross country road trip and wanted to try the German food on our stop in Indy. My husband had the oxtail soup and it was cold. The server brought him another bowl and it was barely warmed up. He chose not to eat it. We both got the jaegerschintzel. It comes drizzled in sour cream. This restaurant is a fantastic place to unwind, with a cozy atmosphere and excellent beer selection. The outdoor beer garden is a perfect spot to enjoy live music, delicious bratwurst, and of course, beer!
This restaurant appears to be relying on its past reputation. The food was mediocre, with one meal served cold by mistake, but quickly rectified by the staff. The staff seemed hurried for no apparent reason. The atmosphere was reminiscent of a German beer hall.
I consider myself as a connoisseur of all things German and this is Bar not a best place for German cuisine and culture, it was always my pleasure to visit... it is cultural center, so it is a larger building than you would expect. The food itself is excellent and authentic and the beer is pure German. I spent enough time in Germany and I felt at home there.
I am always looking for a German restaurant that would enjoy my Hubby, and this place certainly lived up to expectations! Great menu, huge portions and a generous bread bowl to start. The staff was attentive and friendly, and the food tasted amazing! Save space for the delicious cake if you can! Could not ask for more
Amazing German restaurant!!! Mushroom allergy People: many dishes here have mushrooms. The scavenger is amazing. Potato pancakes are wonderful and tasteful. I had the best Riesling I ever had. The service is good and in the basement. All the best restaurants are in Kellern lol. We didn't have to wait, bc we had a reservation at six.
